The Peter Etzcorn who married Mary E. Steele as her second husband was married to Barbara Nowak. They were both native of Prussia. They were married on Nov. 20, 1876. Peter came to US in 1858 when he was four years old. They located at Niles, Berrien Co., Mich. He and Barbara lived in Grand Rapids for 5 yr. before moving to Grand Traverse County, Mich. They had nine children. Joseph, Frank, Mary, Herbert, George, Agnes, Leo, Elbe and Fred. Barbara died in 1912 and Peter married Mary E. Steele, Ives in 1915. I have a bit more about the Etzcorn from as printed in the new Kalkaska County History book. If you think there is a connection to your family, I could copy it and send it snail mail. I think I replied to your message before but have not heard back. I am sure we are talking of the same Peter Etzcorn. The Mary Steele he married was the dau. of James Monroe and Artemetia Steele. She was born in Iowa after her father returned from the Civil War. They moved to Mich. in 1872. She attended school in Kalkaska County. She married Will Ives and had two children, Will and Mae. Will died of a heart attack when he was fairly young. Mary was married to Pete for about ten years before his death. They had no children. Mary was a very active and well liked person who seemed to always being helping one branch of the family or another whenever there was illness or babies being born. I have lots of info. about the family but not sure what you are interested in. Her son Will became a teacher, married had three children before his wife left. The kids had a rough life living with one relative after another. Will remarried but the new wife didn't want to raise the children. Mary's dau. Mae married and had a large family. Her married name was Philo. She died of TB when the children were still young.
