Hi, I don't believe that William b.1731 is the son of Samuel Steele. Several sources say he was Samuel son (like Gilbert Cope and J.S. Futhey), but I don't believe it is correct. Samuel lists all the others as his children in his will, but no William. The most likely father to William is John who dies 1747, and John's Dad is likely the Andrew who dies 1734 (Andrew lists Peter Highet and James Donnel as "sons" and John lists them as "brothers", most likely sons and brothers in law).
