To add to the confusion (or maybe untangle it), my Rev. John Steele was a Presbyterian minister, emigrated from Ireland in 1743 to Carlisle, PA, was a reknown Indian fighter, fighting in the French and Indian Wars. He was the minister at the Old Carlisle Presbyterian Church and I believe, also the Fairview Presbyterian Church in Carlisle. His son, Capt. John Steele was in the Revolution. They did remain Presbyterian. My line comes thru Capt. John Steele and his wife Agnes Moore. Their daughter, Amelia Steele married Drury Stith Feild in Mason Co. IL. Their daughter Amelia Drury Feild married Charles Vertrees of Pike Co. IL and their daughter, Sada Amelia Vertrees was my grandmother. I still haven't figured out how Drury Stith Feild even met my gggrandmother in IL, since he was born and raised in VA, went to TN, then to IL.
