I believe his son, Andrew Steele, born about 1743, is my Andrew Steele who married Martha Buchanan about 1779, probably in Augusta County, Virginia and then moved into what is now Davidson County, TN. His father in law, Archibald Buchanan, lived in the old "Blue Brick" house, that stood on the corner of Stewart's Ferry pike and Blue Brick Drive, in Nashville. Andrew eventually settled in White County, TN by 1810. He was in an Indian battle at Rock Island on the Caney Fork River in 1793. From which of Samuel Rice's children do you descend? Have you any further data pertaining to old Samuel's parentage?? VA - Roll Call > I am a direct lineal descendent of Samuel Steele of Augusta Co. VA. He was born in 1709. He married a Martha (or Margaret) Fulton who is rumored to be the Aunt of "Steamboat". These are the "Steeles of Steele's Tavern". For many years I have been trying to establish his pedigree. . There is information around that he was the son of the famous Irish author Sir Richard Steele. However, I and others had found conclusive evidence that this is not true. > > Ernest Thompson > Moss Beach, CA > > > ==== STEELE Mailing List ==== > Search, Subscribe & Unsubscribe STEELE-L > http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/s/steele.html > > ============================== > The easiest way to stay in touch with your family and friends! > http://www.myfamily.com/banner.asp?ID=RWLIST1 > >
