    3. Donna, I, only in the last few days, have run across something which leads me to believe that my ancestor, William b. 1731 and settled in Chester Co., PA, may be a brother of Rev John of Carlisle. The "evidence" is that a 92 yr old said her Grandfather (William) had a week visit from his brothers sons who were lawyers from Carlisle. When I discovered that John Jr was in fact a lawyer, it caught my attention (was another of his brothers a lawyer?). All I know at this point is from book by Lewis Neubacher discussing the Samuel and Anne (Futhey) Steele descendents and proving that this Samuel had no son William. He quotes (or paraphrases) from the Biographical Annals of Cumberland County and says that Samuel and (Mary Stevenson) Steele had eight sons and one daughter in Ireland. Apparently Samuel dies and Mary and six of the sons come to the US. She brings John, Thomas, William, Joseph, Samuel and Ephraim to America and leaves Ninian, a preacher and James, a farmer, with their sister Jinny in Ireland. He says John settled in Carlisle and Joseph moved to Hilton Hand (Head?), South Carolina. My question is if you know anything else about the brothers of Rev. John? I see Ephraim in Carlisle, and I haven't looked in SC for Joseph. But do you know what happened to Mary, their mother and the other brothers? I am going to pursue this family for now, please let me know if you have other data. Also there has to be a connection between the Samuel and Ninian who are in Chester Co, perhaps their fathers were brothers in Ireland? My e-mail is eleets@pacbell.net.
