Going through my notes, I find that in The Thomas Sumpter Papers, Draper Calendar Series, Vol. V, several references to this SC Steele family, and I had written in the margin: "different John, had daughter Jane Thompson, lived in SC...." without going back & finding how I figured that out, (which I probably will), that looks as another "different Steele".
