Ninian Steel- 1 taxable pg 112- neighbors Simmonton and Allison- I believe these last 2 surnames are Quakers or former Quakers from Chester CO PA. Robert Steel & Luke Hamilton- taxed together - 2 taxables- pg 113- same tax list Robert Chambers listed next and- NINIAN Steel & N - 2 taxables- one is a negro Aurthur Chambers next to this Ninian Steel Joseph Steel- 1 taxable- next to him are John Eads and Philip Price. pg 114 - same tax list as the other Steels. Cool! I'd love to see that info on Andrew Steel. What year is he mentioned? We have an Andrew Steel/Steele here in Tennessee that we don't have parents for. His son, John was born about 1785 in Virginia. I do know that old Rowan County included what is now Ashe and Wilkes Counties, so it's possible he could have lived in Rowan County and also spent time in Virginia too. He was born about 1750 or so.
