    2. Sue Downhill
    3. FORWARDED MESSAGE ~ SUBMITTED BY Michelle <ShellC4535@aol.com> I am researching THOMAS STEELE married to CATHERINE HARRISON, living in Millom, Cumberland during the 1880s. Children: STEPHEN, MARK, HENRY, KATE, FLO, MAGGIE, AND NELLIE. Henry was killed in Somme, during WW1, his name in on the cenotaph in Millom. Stephen came to the states in 1922, his wife and children approx. a year later. I have found information on Henry, including his "attestation papers", an obituary, etc. But cannot locate information on THOMAS. I believe that Thomas was married twice before marrying Catherine. Any information and/or assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank You. Michelle ShellC4535@aol.com

    3. Hi Willie, I am a descendent of Samuel Fulton and Margaret (or Martha) Fulton and have been trying to determine their pedigrees for 4 or 5 years. There is a theory as to who Margaret Fulton's father was, but I don't have it at hand and could never document the source. The theory that Samuel was the son of the famous Sir Richard Steele, Irish author, publisher and Playwright has been disproven completely, so if that is suggested to you - ignore. There was always a rumor that Margaret was the Aunt of "Steamboat" , but could never be proven as far as I know. The Beverly Patent land map showing the Steele farms in Augusta is available on the internet. Have you referenced "Chalkley" " Chronicles of the Scotch Irish in Virginia".? I do believe that these Steeles came for PA, but not sure. Extremely interested if you find anything. I have been putting this our on Fulton - rootsweb for several years and found nothing. This fellow was living awfully close to my Buchanans in the Beverly Patent back in the 1740's, and I'm speculating that his son Andrew Steele is the same Andrew Steele who married Martha Buchanan, daughter of Archibald Buchanan and Agnes Bowen McFerrin-Buchanan. The name "Alexander" keeps popping up, and could either be from the Steele or Buchanan side. Archibald's grandfather or great grandfather was an Alexander Buchanan from Chester County, Pennsylvania, if I recall correctly. Seems this fellow was also the ancestor of President James Buchanan. > Thanks >Will > > >==== STEELE Mailing List ==== >Search, Subscribe & Unsubscribe STEELE-L >http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/s/steele.html > >============================== >Search more than 150 million free records at RootsWeb! >http://searches.rootsweb.com/ > >
