    1. [STEELE-L] Samuel STEELE: Butler, OH, Dearborn, IN 1800-1843 USA
    2. John Steele
    3. I am searching for information about Samuel STEELE, born 1794 in KY. Samuel married Sarah "Sally" PORTER, (b 1800, KY) in Butler Co., OH on 19 April 1821. According to family lore, William Porter, the eldest son, was born there in 1823. Other children, James Rankin, John Elliott and Mary Jane were born in Rising Sun, Dearborn County (now Ohio Co.), IN in 1825, 1827, and 1829 respectively. I have been unable to find any record of the family between their marriage date and 1843 when Samuel purchased a farm in Caldwell Co., MO. Samuel's parents are unknown. His siblings are believed to be: William (m. Unknown Johnson), Ann (m. Richard Scott), Jane (m. Robert Scott), Joseph, Alexander, James, John (m. Mary Porter), Mary, and Eleanor (m. Unknown North). I would greatly appreciate any information on either these STEELEs or PORTERs and would be happy to share a considerable amount of descendent information to family ties. Thank you. John

    1. [STEELE-L] Steele siblings from PA - George & Bessie

    3. Hello, In researching my WRIGHT lines, I found several Steeles buried in the same plots in a cemetery near Uniontown/Pleasant Unity, Westmoreland or Fayette county, PA. I would like to know how they tied to the Wrights: Bessie (1909-1998) married to Edwin E. Wright (1910-1972) Next to them is George F. Steele (June 1913- April 1974) Nearby is a headstone for Florence W. Steele ( 1913-blank) Is Florence still alive? Was she a Wright at birth? If so, does anyone know how to contact her or her descendants.?? I've been seeking Wrights for years - too common a name when only first names available ! 3. FORWARDED MESSAGE ~ SUBMITTED BY John & Rosemary <john.ro@btinternet.com> In response to the roll call, we are looking for any information on Henry Steel, his ancestors and descendants. Here is what we know so far: Henry STEEL was born in Winchester, Hampshire, England in 1822 or possibly 1821. He married Ellen MILSOM from Tetbury, Gloucestershire and we know of six children all born in Winchester between 1847 and 1864. In order they were James, Charles, Alice, Joseph, Mary and Frank. Around 1878 the family appears to have changed their surname to STEELE. Hopefully somebody can make a connection.
