    3. This seems like a good time to re-enter my Steel names that I am looking for. I have a Silas Wesley Steele born 1851; Married to Susan Jeanette 'Nettie' Edwards, born March 24, 1853 in Marion County, Ohio to Wellington Edwards and Sarah McFetters. Nettie died January 31, 1944 in Tonkawa, Kay County, OK. Silas died in 1933 in Tonkawa, Kay County, OK Silas and Nettie were married February 02m 1872 in Deland, Piett County, IL. I do have information on Nettie's parents and siblings, but have hit a major snag in finding Silas' family. According to Silas' buriel information, his father's name was John Steele born in Virginia, and his mother's name was Elizabeth Lair, also born in Virginia. Silas was born in Ohio, so obviously John and Elizabeth was in Ohio in 1851. When I checked the Ohio census for that time frame, I found 26 John Steele's but none married to an Elizabeth Lair. I could certainly use any kind of help that might be out there to get over this hump. Silas and Nettie had 12 children: Tobias, Oliver, Sarah, Charles, Susan, Fred, Eva Mae(my line) Berniece, Harry, Ilsa, Iva, and Pearl. I would love to hear from anyone that might be connected or could lead me to information on this family. 1. [STEELE-L] Re: STEELEs in VA 1700s
    2. I was looking at the Augusta Co., Virginia Marriage Records 1785-1813 (975.591 V2a). And it has two that might match your Jennet: Jenney Steele marring Peter Alexander March 27, 1787. Jenet Steele married Robert Carden Dec. 19, 1799. There is no mention of Daniel Dean, however, this is not a complete list. I've been searching for William Steele's(b. 1774) family in Augusta Co., Va. and have seen that name several places. Samuel Steele's will 1795 mentions a daughter Jenny. And so does Samuel Steele's will 1795 both were from Augusta Co., Va. However, the other children differ in names. If your interested in more information, let me know. I don't check this site as often as I should, so you can email me if you'd like. cjpacker@earthlink.net Claudia

    3. Sherry I don't have the parents or Siblings for William Steele, I only have his wife as Betsey Hanger and his children. Four of his Children were born in Augusta Co. area (or Greenbrier) and were are shown in the St. Johns Lutheran Church Register. However, according to the land tax and census records, he appears to be moving to Greenbrier with this Capt. Samuel Steele Jr. and Thomas Steele (they are living next door to each other) and appears in the Gallia Co., Ohio Chattels the same year with Thomas Steele, so they may be relater or brothers, but I have no proof. I was hoping to find more evidence for this therory.
