Hi- Any relation to John Steele from Baltimore, MD, born in England about 1804? Debby Steele Rogers
this is my grand parents names, they are from tenn. around silverpoint, his father name was william, this is all we know of him. any one knowing more e-mail me at jba111@yahoo.com thanks
Oh, Lila. You are related to the Huddleston directly instead of Aunt Clarinda? Before we had my brother's papers( around Jan 2001), we went by Marcine Tiahrt's papers. She did the work first then brother Richard Steele, son Rick Steele and Jan Bowers picked up on it. Jan Zanders is also working on Steeles plus probably others we have yet to meet. The Nairn Family has a Steele Genalogy that includes our family. As yet we are unable to find the Nairn family. They were realated to Aunt Ella Steele. We will love to hear about the Huddlestons.Susan Steele Victor

Hi, I saw some earlier messages about Marshall Hawley Steele. I have e-mail these people but they were old posts. My Great uncle was Marshall, born 1882 in Stithton Ky. (now Fort Knox) To Edwin Palentine Steele and Ada E. Sheets. They moved to Massac County Ill. (Metropolis). His Siblings were: Julia B. (m. bert Cummins, moved to Mn.) Emma K. (m. Kennedy, moved to Mn.) Samuel E. (m. Bessie Fay, stayed in Massac co.) Clarence (moved to Mn.) I am searching for the parents of Edwin P. Steele and would like to meet any "cousins". My line is through Sam and Bessie and thier son Donald. Thanks, Mary
Yes Lila we must be cousins. There are quite a few of us working on the Steele Family. Richard S. Steele from Broomfield CO is my brother who is deceased. His son also Richard S. Steele has taken over where he left off. The people you listed are the children of Ira Curry Steele and Margaret Hilligoss . My great grandpa , William Henry Steele, is also one of their children. Don't you descend from William Henry Steele also? Since we are working with Richard Steele's papers, we must have the same thing. Good to meet you, Susan Steele Victor
I have a John (Jehu) Pyles Steele, born January 10, 1802 in North Carolina. His parents were Thomas Steele and Sarah Ann Pyles. John was married to Christina (or Christiana) Barger ca 1829 in Henderson County, TN. John and Christina moved from Tennessee to Mississippi and then to Arkansas, where John died in Ouachita County in 1850. Christina married Hiram Medlock after John's death and eventually settled in Nevada County, AR, where she died in 1877. Susan-happy to hear from you, I think that we are related so I'll give you what I know and have found.Nathan Huddleston was my great-uncle,he married Minerva Smith in Jefferson Co.,Iowa.they had 4 children;Nancy, Harriet, John Thomas all of which died at birth.Mary Ann Huddleston b.ll-24-53, d.10-30-41 (a year after I was born). She married William Henry Steele 4-4-l870 attJefferson Co, Iowa. I went to Ancestry.com to pick up the family tree and got no farther than Ira C. Steele. Parents for him were listed as unknown. However, 9 siblings were listed: Elizabeth Jane, Silas, Thomas Jefferson, Marcellus Parker , Ira Wesley, Addie M., Mary, Susan, and Sarah. I have names of Lee and John Steele on my Grandmother's obituary. I believe Mary Ann Huddleston Steele is my cousin, Since I just started on this side of the family, my information is sketchy, however, I will try to contact Marcine in S.D., Mary Ann Steele was her Grandmother. Also one address that showed up on the research papers is:Richard S. Steele,Broomfield,Colorado. You may or may not have any or all of this information, but please send me whatever you can so I can "fill in the blanks" and I will keep searching and share what I find.. nice to meet you cousin. I'm 60 yrs. old and am a native of S.D. transplanted to Mn. Thank you for the information, this is really exciting. Lila

Hello Lila, William Henry Steele is my great grandfather. Are you related somehow? Are you descended from Aunt Clarinda Steele? We think that she married a Linder. We are diligently trying to find Ira Curry Steele's parents but to no avail so far. Have you any information that might help? Thank you Susan Steele Victor

Dear Frank, In a recent post you said: "We worked backwards from AR > TN > SC. The dates for SC are correct for our Steeles." My Steeles were from AK and TN. too. My 2 great grandfather was Thomas Steel(e) and he moved from TN to Saline County AK. We do not know who his parents were. Here is his information: Thomas Steel(e) Jr. b. 5-May-1786, ?NC or ?Ireland (seeGedCom); m. 22-Dec-1808, Chatham CO NC, Jane Moore. Thomas died 11 Feb-1862 in Saline Co. AK. There is a Thomas Steele listed in the 1820 NC Census. Thomas, Jane and family moved to Henderson Co, TN in 1820’s. There was a Thomas Steele listed in the 1830 Henderson Co., TN Census. From TN theymoved to AK. Thomas Steel is listed as purchasing 40 acres in 1844 in the Saline CO ARK Federal Land Records of 1850. Their son, Samuel B. Steele, was executor of Thomas Jr.’s estate in Saline County, AK. Thomas left no will and the Petition for Letters Testamentaryonly mentions his widow, Jane, and children: John M, David E., J. Almond, Samuel B., James F., Jonathan and Sophie's heirs. Thomas and Jane had nine children (Note: the Ged Com lists fifteen children for Thomas and Jane, however based on the Estate documents (Petition) this does not appear likely.). ______________________ Frank, do you see any connection to your Steeles? Thanks for your help. Sharon Steele Doyle Houston TX
I have an Issac Steele in my line. Descendants of Cap Isaac Steele 1 Cap Isaac Steele 1830 - b: March 14, 1830 in Pennsylvania I have always wondered what the Cap stood for. Was it an actual name, or an honorary title, short for Captain. Parents for Cap Isaac Steele are Scott Steele and Isabella Gorell.
Nada, Yes, my uncle and I, Mike Steele, have done some work on the SC records. We worked backwards from AR > TN > SC. The dates for SC are correct for our Steeles.
