    3. The price for the Social Security info is well worth it, if you are having trouble within the first generation or two of tracing a line. I found out my maternal great grandparents names, including my g grandmother's maiden name! It was not what I thought it was. It has completely changed my search pattern. Also, if you contact Pampa, they will tell you how much for a copy of the death certificate. It often has some very helpful info on it, including birthplace, and parents names, including the mother's maiden name. I think the most I have paid anywhere for a death certificate (non-certified) has been 5 dollars. The ones my husband got in Texas were about 2-3 dollars in the Panhandle area. 2. I am sorry the only thing I know about Floberts parents is speculation. My dad thinks his grandfathers name was Wylie and his grandmothers name was Belle, but he doesn't know whether that was her first name or last. His father died when he was 7 so he doesn't remember that much. Flobert worked in the oil fields so there is not many records there. SSDI doesn't even have records of him even though I have his SS card and pay stubs?? Very Puzzling? Janie Boulware [

    3. Janie et al., If no social security benefits were paid out, chances are good that there would be no SSDI entry. There should, however, be an SS-5 application form, which you should be able to get (at a steep price today - $27 if I recall) with mother's and father's info on the individual. take care, good luck, and have a Wonderful Holiday Season !! john ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Vajbirds672@cs.com Reply-To: STEELE-L@rootsweb.com Date: Tue, 18 Dec 2001 12:45:27 EST > SSDI doesn't >even have records of him even though I have his SS card and pay stubs?? 3. The Peter Etzcorn who married Mary E. Steele as her second husband was married to Barbara Nowak. They were both native of Prussia. They were married on Nov. 20, 1876. Peter came to US in 1858 when he was four years old. They located at Niles, Berrien Co., Mich. He and Barbara lived in Grand Rapids for 5 yr. before moving to Grand Traverse County, Mich. They had nine children. Joseph, Frank, Mary, Herbert, George, Agnes, Leo, Elbe and Fred. Barbara died in 1912 and Peter married Mary E. Steele, Ives in 1915. I have a bit more about the Etzcorn from as printed in the new Kalkaska County History book. If you think there is a connection to your family, I could copy it and send it snail mail. 2. Who was Flobert Ray Steele's father and/or mother? I'm looking for families of John Lemuel Steele, James Morris Steele, Lee Olier or Oliver Lee, and Finis Maynard Steele. I know some of them married in Llano County, Tx and all were supposedly born in Mo., though I have found NO evidence of this. I don't know what happen to the first 3, but Finis was my great-grandfather and settled and died in Runnels County, Texas. I hope any of this sounds familiar. Thanks!

    1. [STEELE] Steele, Gordon, Anderson Families in SC > AL > LA/TN > TX
    2. L Hurston Anderson, PhD
    3. In Greene Co, AL there was a Steele clan from SC probably Abbeville Co, SC. I am interested primarily in their connection to Gordons from SC and AL, and there were several marriages between Gordons and Steeles. For instance, Fannie G. Steele (1854 AL - 1889 AL) married Bruce Gordon. She was the daughter of Ezekiel Baylus G. Steele (1826 AL -1855 AL) and Harriet C Gordon (abt 1829 AL - 1859 AL). Below is what I think is correct on these Steeles. 1)John Steele (about 1690 - ?) 2) James Aaron Steele (1714 - ? )lived in SC +Nancy Alexander 3) John Steele Isaac Steele (1762-1803 SC) Aaron Steele (1744 SC - 1795 SC) +Violet Polk Alexander (c1746-1783 SC) 4) William Steele (1763-1821 SC) James Steele Aaron Steele Jennie Steele Abner Alexander Steele +Elizabeth Deal 5) Mary Steele Elihu R. Steele Richard Griffin Steele Elizabeth Steele Nancy Steele Martha Steele William Steele Abner Alexander Steele Jane Steele Esther Love Steele James Steele Alexander Steele (1795 SC - 1828 AL) eldest child +Jane C. McDow 6) Andrew Sidney Steele Joseph L. Steele Margaret Steele Elizabeth Steele Ezekiel Baylus G. Steele (above) + Harriet C. Gordon 7) Elizabeth Steele Medora Steele (died in infancy) Medora Steele Fanny S. Steele + Bruce Gordon Got most of this from internet. There is info there on most of the Steeles much more detail. The puzzle I am trying to solve is if there is also a connection between both the Steele and Gordon families from Greene Co, AL to Giles Co, TN in early 1800's. A family of Andersons there in Giles Co, TN with seven children married Steeles and Gordons with at least on of the Gordons from the family that married into the Steeles in Greene Co, AL. 3. This is the only time I've seen Taylor Steele,I realize that it is her maiden and married name, but I wonder if they may have wound up in Va/W..Va/ area around 1880. It could have been a way to keep the name alive. My Taylor Steele at least for a time, lived in the Va. area.He married and had children in I believe Greenbrier County in Va. I would appreciate any information you might have. Patt Steele http://community.webtv.net/coolPatt/Yesterdaysflowers
