Been trying to find an index to Bond's Watertown book? While trying to find an on-line source for the book I came across the following web page referral: http://sml.simplenet.com/kinnexions/bond/bond.htm. This web page starts out: "Index to Bond's Watertown Index prepared by Stephen M. Lawson I am constantly amazed at the wealth of information buried in the pages of Henry Bond's Early Settlers of Watertown. Even though I had a copy of this work, it was not until I found that Sophronia, wife of Eli Morey, was a Mason that I discovered the Bond had recorded Sophronia Mason as daughter of Elijah and Sally (Child) Mason of Woodstock CT and New Homer, NY on page 362. If I had had the full index, I would have discover that there were only 45 persons with the name Sophronia in this volume - and saved a couple years of searching! Sophronia's father-in-law Benoni Morey is on page 143. I am likewise amazed that Bond published this volume without the aid of a computer! A few statistics: 3475 surnames (plus variants), 36861 full names (27 persons without a surname), 63738 page references, John has 1213 surnames, Mary has 1898 surnames, only 29 John Smiths, but 107 Mary Stearns. There's just one entry for LAWSON -- George on page 76. This index was prepared over a period of several months in the early 1980's. The full title page of the volume used for indexing is found in the Contents section. Pagination doubtlessly varies between editions. The Table of Contents in the Contents section should permit conversion of page numbers from the Surnames section, and the Surnames section should permit conversion of page numbers from the Everyname section. Please excuse errors and omissions...." You may want to check out this web site.
