Hi people -- I've found a Starnes connection on both sides of my family. My dad of course was a Starnes from the Monroe/Union Co NC area. It turns out that my mother's ggmother was Massinda Atle Starnes from the Starnes' Cove section of Buncombe Co, NC. We suspect, but have no definite proof, that the two families connect somewhere back in the mists of antiquity. My paternal line (info, courtesy of Herman Starnes' _Of Them Who Left A Name Behind_ ) goes back to Nathaniel and Susan Bost Starnes. Can anyone provide a connection between the Union Co branch of the Starnes family and the Buncombe Co branch or any information on Massinda Atle Starnes? Thanks. Bill
