Hello Stearns listers, I've been lurking on this list for a while but with its rebirth I've decided to jump into the fray. I'm new at this geneaology thing so please forgive me if I sound silly but here goes... My end of the Stearns line is a mysterious one. No one seems to know anything so I'm sleuthing here. My grandfather, Virgil Leroy Stearns was born on August 12, 1898 in Hamburg Iowa. His father was Leroy Stearns (and I hardly know anything about this man). His mother was named Stella (I know so little about her that I don't even know her maiden name!). My grandfather married Linda Leon Osborne on April 12, 1919. Virgil and Linda had 4 children: Virgil Jr., Farrell Maurice, Peggy Sue, and Otis Richardson (my father). My father claims some Indian blood via his grandfather, Leroy, but neither he nor I have been unable to track any down. This is not a thing that my grandfather cared to discuss so, needless to say, I learned very little from him before he died. If this sounds like a piece to your puzzle, please sing out.
