Does anyone have information regarding Jonathan BROOKS (and his parents) who m. Sarah (Sally) STEARNS 1799? There are two references in Van Wagenen's books to a David and Hannah BROOKS - the first refers to the above marriage, the second refers to a marriage between Asa STEARNS and Eunice BROOKS in 1804. Am looking for information on Robert Leon Stearns or Robert P. Stearns. Possibly from MN or MO. Robert married Lydia Augusta Faye (dates unknown). Moved to Spencer, NE about 1890. Robert was first postmaster of Spencer post office. About 1904, Robert came up missing. Have found nothing on him before 1890 or after 1904. Robert and Lydia had about 11 children including my grandfather. Also searching for info on Lorenzo Van Querian Stearns (Robert's oldest son), b. about 1877. He was also known as Ren. "Genealogies of the Families and Descendants of the Early Settlers of Watertown, Massachusetts" by Henry Bond, M.D., Second Edition, published by the N.E. Historic- Genealogical Society in 1860. Also, yesterday I sent the descendancy of George Daniel Stearns. Below I've cut and pasted several generations of Stearns that lead up to (and include) the parents of George Daniel Stearns. Most of my Stearns line is based in the north - so if there is not a place given, it could be Mass., N.H., N.Y., or even Maine. My one and only known Stearns ancestor--can someone help me place her? Olivia Stearns was b. 4 Oct., 1777 in Northampton, Mass., and married Israel Wright in Northampton on 22 Nov., 1798. Good News: The STEARNS list is back in service on RootsWeb. That's the really good news. The bad news, well there isn't any that I'm aware of at this time. Because of the way the lists were transferred from Maiser people who were already on the list will not get a copy of the new welcome message. That's part of what this message is for. The welcome message new subscribers are going to get is shown below. There are two parts, one for regular subscribers and one for subscribers to the digest for of the list. At this moment, everyone should be signed up for the regular list and get copies of every message sent to the list. If you want to change to the digest list, follow the instructions below.
