Joseph Stotler of Brown County Ohio son of Jacob who died in 1778 (who Rick says is the #3 son of Stephen.) Joseph STOTLER born about 1771 had about 14 children. >Sandy Joseph Stateler/Stotler b 1771 d 1870 m1 Margaret Miller m2 Catherine UnkLNJoseph Stotler born about 1771 moved to Brown County Ohio, Joseph's birth year is from the 1850 census Joseph Stotler served in the war of 1812 in Collier's Regt as Josepf Stotlar Fr Sandra Hall-there is no record except a mention in a local history that this Joseph being a son of Stephen ever existed. If it were me I would not have included this person in any list. Joseph Stotler is line George Statler line matched exact in DNA Project [George Statler md Elizabeth Smeathers, sister to MY 4x grandfather William Smeathers] I'd like to know now if Rick was correct or not. Surely if Jacob desc matched up to our George desc they have to be RELATED!! Fr Rick Toothman-A manuscript I received after finishing that draft established beyond question that Joseph STATLER, c1773/4?-1870s, of Brown Co, OH, was a younger brother of John STATLER (of Jacob). This Joseph married Margaret MILLER and left WV in the early 1800s data on Joseph STATLER of OH needs to be worked into the story. 1938 History I have and it mentions that Joseph Stotler had a son Jackson who came to Illinois with his half-brother Samuel and went back to Indiana around 1865 and settled near Tipton, Indiana. So the logical place to look would be Williamson County, Illinois in 1860 and Tipton County, Indiana in 1870 Fr Sandra Hall (But the data on Joseph is also extremely incorrect on some points, and some of it is outright nonsense -- particularly the story of Joseph, his father Jacob, and their encounters with Indians, nearly all of which is fictional.)
