    3. Article taken from NY Times dated: Wednesday, August 6, 1888: A PREMATURE BLAST WHEELING, West Va., Aug. 5. - By the premature explosion of a blast on the line of the Berkley Springs and Potomac Railroad, near Alpine Station, Morgan County, John H. Shackleford was instantly killed and William Statler, Andrew Smith and Henry Green dangerously wounded. Little hope is entertained for the last two named. Shackleford's body was horribly mutilated, stones as large as a billiard ball being blown into it. -David Statler
