    1. RE: [STATLER] Status of Statler DNA Project

    3. Hi Sandra, I have a question regarding the DNA Project. To be tested, would the male descendant being tested need to come directly from a Statler male descendant? My grandmother was a Missouri Statler and I could ask my uncles (her sons) to participate if possible. Also, there are several Statler men living in Marquand, Missouri (prounounced Mark One). And possibly Bollinger County (the Bollingers are connected to our family, that's how Rush Limbaugh is related). I hope I was able to help. 3. Hi Julie, Thanks for your interest. The DNA tested is from the Y chromosome which is past from father to son and so follows the surname except in case of adoption or other nonpaternity event. So your uncles would have their father's Y chromosome and not the "Statler One" of your family. I have made "cold calls" to find participants but it is not my favorite thing to do.
