    2. David Statler
    3. Listers, I also received the email from Carl and replied to him telling him to run a virus scan on his PC. It modifies the email address of the sender by adding an underscore "_" in front of their email address. If you received the email WITHOUT opening the attachment, DELETE the email now and you'll be okay. If you opened the attachment by double clicking on it (or if your email program automatically opens attachments), there is a good chance your PC has become infected. No, your computer is not ruined by this virus (as was asked in an email by MStateler@aol.com), but it does install a few files on your PC that you probably don't want and then tries to spread itself by sending itself to unsuspecting receiptants. The good news is, it can be removed!! For detailed information about this virus and instructions on it's removal, please click here: http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.badtrans.b@mm.html It's the Symantic AntiVirus Resource Center's page about this particular virus. If the above address wraps around onto a second line, make sure you put the full address in your web browser. It does mention that one of the names of the attachments will be called 'Humor.pif' as some have mentioned that they received. Again, please visit the above web site for more information and removal instructions if you believe your PC has become infected. If you still have questions or problems about removal, let me know and I'll try to help as much as I can. Regards, David Statler Statler Mailing List Admin. 3. Hi all! I wanted to post something here for the rightful descendants, that I stumbled on while doing my search. "WEST VIRGINIA STATE ARCHIVES UNCLAIMED MEDALS OF HONOR" ****' STATLER, HARMON C. ; 17TH REG INF VOLS***** " In order to claim an ancestor's medal, a claimant must submit his or her line of descent from the veteran along with documentation to support this line of descent. To establish line of descent, claimants must include COPIES of primary sources, including birth. death. marriage, will, deed, military, census, Bible records, etc. Old letters, diaries, marriae announcements, or obituaries may also prove helpful in verifying a descendant's claim. 1. [STATLER] FRANCIS W. STUTLER/STATLER
    2. Doreen Walton
    3. Hi all!!! I'm new here and I just wanted to let you know that I am researching my husband's line of our family for our infant daughter, Jordana- so that she will know where it is that she comes from one day. So far I have gone back 7 generations (including hers)- which takes us back to her gr-gr-gr-gr-great grandfather Francis W Stutler in the early 1800's in the Northwest Territory . For reasons unknown- when he married his wife, Christiana Cox he used his real name which was Francis W. Statler (parents and family are unknown- however, in viewing the individual index, I do believe that I will find them in here- MANY of our family names through the generations are here in your families as well), then in the 1850 Parke County IN census, he said that he was born in Ohio- which could be true- I've found no record of any sort thus far-but he could have been born on the way out via PA. He had a son and 2 daughters by 1858--on all of their records he used the name "Statler", then in 1858 he bought some land in Illinois- and used the name "Stutler" - when his 2nd son was born, he had used the name "Stutler" and then again when his 3rd son was born.....and the name has not been changed since. The German heritage is common knowledge within our family....as is the HEAVY AND SOLID---AND TALLLL stature of our babies that is the Stutler trademark which from what I understand comes out in every other generation (Jordana's got it!) --- 9 months old and she is 29" long...and 25 pounds---she's not fat....she's solid!!!!! This family came over from Germany as planters, worked the fields of farms for generations, and as the industrial age came about some moved on towards the sounds of the locomotive and then the non-stop bustle of the factories. The 'hey-day" of this family seems to have been the mid-late 1800's into the early 1900's when you had loads of cousins everywhere around you when you grew up. I look forward to chatting with some of you via the email and message board....as I search for Francis' (my brick wall) parents and siblings- as well as some of his descendants that I haven't found as of yet. If you would like to see the information that I've gotten on this Stutler/Statler family line take a look at my webpage at http://community.webtv.net/tinyshadow/STUTLERFAMILYTREE Happy hunting!!! Talk to you soon. Doreen Walton "Life is Short and Love is Grande.... Treasure both,in your heart, your mind, your soul and by your hand....and you will find the rare beauty and power of a love that will last beyond the grave." D.H.W.

    3. Hello again Barbara and List! A quick PS on Georg Stettler.............His gravemarker on Union Road near Miamisburg Ohio gives his name as George V. Stettler..............but that is the only time I've found records of him with a "V" Since Germanic people commonly went by their middle names in everyday life...........I've wondered what the V could stand for, and if his real first name was really "Valentin" or something like that. 3. Hello Barbara and List, Have you come across a Georg(e) Stadtler/Stettler/Stetler etc? He was born "somewhere" in 1739, lived in Bethel Twp, Berks Co (then Lancaster Co.) died in Miamisburg Ohio in 1815. Married Eva Caterina Moyer/Meyer etc. Friends and family included Barlet, Pontius, Shade, Sharrits and others. I have been searching for his origin for 30 years. 3. Marva, I'm researching William who married Ann Catherine King (daughter of Solomon King of Pennsylvania).. William was born about 1820; they were married June 12, 1845 in Westmoreland County, Penn. They had daughters Henrietta, Belinda, and Emseba and a son named George. I've searched for many years trying to find the right family to connect William to. Do you have any information that connects to my William Statler/Stotler? 3. Marva...Elizabeth's father would be my gggg grandfather. My cuz Deb in england comes from John Bates Smeathers line [son of William] thru his dau Mary m Elijah Kelly. I have another cuz in Tx from same line but bro to Mary who was a William and m Cynthia Kelly...sis to Elijah. I am from the 2nd wife of William Smeathers/Mary Winters. I have another cuz or we do...from the Daniel Grass/Jane Smeathers line [sis to Elizabeth] and have several cuzzies from the John Berry/Betsy Smeathers line, but this is a lst for Stateler and I am just so excited!!! Aft 3 yrs you can't imagine what good news this is. Where do you live? Do you have a chart you can send me on Eliz and George? I have one from William and Nancy and William and Mary Winters down...we do not know the parents except may be William's father was a Smithers. The Dubois Chrisman connected was disproved in 1970, so we don't know who William's mother is. I also have a couple cuzzies from William's bro, James Smeathers that live in Owensboro and pics of the park there dedicated to William. I am originally fr Tx...and the Smothers line down from John Bate jr who changed the name to Smothers from Smeathers. Am curious the real spelling of Statler too, is it Statler or Stateler? Seen so many spellings...thanks for any info...cuz Nena >From: MStateler@aol.com >Reply-To: STATLER-L@rootsweb.com >To: STATLER-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [STATLER] Elizabeth Smeathers m George Statler >Date: Fri, 29 Jun 2001 12:48:55 EDT > >George and Elizabeth Smeathers are my Great, Great, Great Grandparents. > >Marva Stateler mstateler@aol.com _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

    1. Re: [STATLER] Elizabeth Stateler Info
    2. Nena Smothers
    3. Marva: in 3 yrs you are the ONLY person I have found that has any info! thank you so much. Some data said they only had Billie, some ssaid only 4. I was reading some info from the Spencer co Cemetery Books. So you line is from Jacob B 12-24-1811 D 3-22 1885 ?? Oh, this is great!! Do you have any info on the parents of Elizabeth or a death certificate or marr bond? I so want to try to find out if her father was William Smeathers/Smithers. William is my gggg grandfather. Supposedly he marr a Nancy Cecelia Fitzpatrick, which my cuz and I can find NO none info abt at all...just hand down stuff we can't prove. Have you ever heard abt this school she started. I think I've exhausted sources I know trying to find this info. She supposedly has 3 sisters, Betsy who m John Berry, Jane who m Daniel Grass [who so said owned that Knob Hill cabin] and a Mary [Mollie] who never marr but raised a nephew, James Smeathers [whom we have yet to figure out the father is]. Those 3 were supposedly born in VA, so said on descendants census...now I hear Elizabeth was native of Tenn...so that leaves me in a quandry. William had a 2nd wife, Mary Winters who had 2 children in Tn...so wondering if maybe Elizabeth was dau of Winters..this line has been real confusing. Mary Winters was from Robertson co.,Tn, her father being Moses Winters. Who was Jacob's wife? Could you send me your line that inc George and Elizabeth. Be glad to share what I have too. This cemetery in the Knobs is it the one called the Statler Cemetery? I have a listing from Spencer co Hist Soc of who is buried there but dont know all the connections. I have a cuz in Ky who recently went there and took pic of Elizabeth's gravestone. I do not have a pic of the Knob Hill cabin, but my cuz is going to try to get one or find this cabin. Be anxious to hear back from you....Nena Smothers >From: MStateler@aol.com Your information is correct except for the children. > >George & Elizabeth had 6 children: > >1.Tulauah Elizabeth >2.
