My ancestor was Curmelius Statler from Ohio -- His father was Issac. Curmelius served in the Civil War and settled in Pilot Township of Iowa Co. Iowa. If this sounds like any of your family, please make contact. Due to a mis-spelling of my father's birth dertificate, we now spell it Stattler. Gary L.
Hi Marva, My name is John STATLER. I saw your email to the rootsweb STATLER email list and it greatly sparked my interest because we had the STATLER/STATELER difference within our family. I am wondering if we are related in some way. As late as 1940 my Grandfather, Dennis James STATLER pronounced our name as "STATE-ler". On the Ohio, 1840 US Census the name was enummerated as STATELER. This is what I know: My Father, John Rally STATLER, b. 1901 in Illinois. Grandfather, Dennis James STATLER, b. 1872 in Michigan. G Grandfather, John Riley STATLER, b. 1846 in Ohio. GG Grandfather, James STATELER, b. 1805 in Ohio. In 1833, James, m. Mary (b.1815) Clark in Ohio. Their issue: Jacob, Mary, Charlotte, Dennis, John Riley, Cynthia and (Linda?). James and family moved to Michigan abt.1847. John 1805 STATELER, twin to James 1805 STATELER m. Mary SOFER, their issue: Clarrisa, James, Elizabeth, Erastus, Solomon, burns and Stephen. Andrew STATELER, older brother to James 1805 STATELER appeared in 1840 USCensus, Delaware County, Ohio, with wife and issue of seven. I have info which makes me believe the father of James 1805 STATELER was, Jacob (b. est1774) STATELER who, in 1828 lived with his family in Tully Township, in either Marrow, Marion or Crawford County, Ohio. Is it possible that you are my Cousin? John Statler
I am a direct decendent of Stephen Stradler. When Stephens sons, George and Stephen, came to Indiana and Kentucky Stephen, (my ggg Uncle) stayed in Kentucky and used the Statler spelling and George, (my ggg Grandfather) moved to Indiana and used the Stateler spelling. George married Elizabeth Smeathers, (my ggg Grandmother) and they used the Stateler spelling and we still use it. There is an old story in our family about my gg Grandfather Jacob Stateler and his brother got into an argument over Democrats and Republicans and my gg Uncle moved to Ohio and changed his spelling to Statler. Marva Stateler
Do you wonder if all the Statler's...were related at some point? Our Statler line goes back to Stephen Stadler who immigrated fr Baviaria Via Amsterdam and the Ship Speedwell docking in Philidelphia Sep 25 1749. He went to Union town Westmoreland Co Pa and listed his occup as German Military. He prob b in German c1710 and d c1784 Fayette Co Pa. His will was found Monongalia Co WV as well as many land deeds of the family. He had 7 children and all we know is a wife name Susannah, probably a 2nd wife acc/to a researcher. Various sp even in this one line were used. Our ancestor Geo Statler who went to Ky/In used the Statler sp as did his bro Stephen who marr into the Pigman family. This Geo marr into our Smeathers family. It seems the Stradler sp was used in Pa and Statler in WV...no clue why. here is a PA Statler cem site www.rootsweb.com/~pasomers/cemetery/sh/statler.htm Nena Kirby Stetler, descendant of Georg V. Hi Everyone! Sorry I was not available to address the little problem we had on the mailing list eariler, but I was out of town over the weekend showing off my new baby daughter to family. The problem seems to have stemmed from a spammed email (or even a possible email caused by the Klez virus) that made it to the whole mailing list, getting passed Rootsweb's email filters. This caused EVERYONE that is subscribed (currently 79 people) to the Statler mailing list to get it. Therefore, no one was specificially targeted to get the email. You can tell if it comes from the Statler Mailing list if you check the 'To:' field and it says "STATLER-L@rootsweb.com". Hope this clears up the misunderstanding where the mail "comes from." If not, please email me privately at david@statlerweb.com and I'll try to answer your questions. On another note, to keep this genealogy related, since I mentioned by new baby, guess I'd better give the details! :-) Name: Lauren Elizabeth Statler Birthdate: June 14, 2002 Birthplace: Jefferson City, MO Weight: 8 lbs. 4 ozs. Length: 19 1/2 inches She's got strawberry blonde colored hair and blue eyes. She's now three months old and starting to smile alot and "talk". :-) Her big brother is also very proud of her. Again, if something like the spam mail occurs again, just let me know prviately (but I also get the email thru the list, so most likely I'll already know about it) and I'll try to get in touch with the concerned parties. Thanks for your understanding! David Statler Statler Family Mailing List Admin.
Maybe something got his e-mailer. I got it, too. Sharon
Marva, I don't know why you are getting emails from Clifford. Can you tell me who you are? Maybe this will clear things up. mary ----- Original Message ----- From: <MStateler@aol.com> To: <STATLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 14, 2002 7:12 PM Subject: [STATLER] sorry > i keep getting emails from someone called clifford stateler and i cant read > them. i did not intend to be rude. i thought something was wrong with the > way i was getting the messages. they are coming from statler-l@rootsweb.com > and the only words readable are clifford stateler. > Marva > > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >
i keep getting emails from someone called clifford stateler and i cant read them. i did not intend to be rude. i thought something was wrong with the way i was getting the messages. they are coming from statler-l@rootsweb.com and the only words readable are clifford stateler. Marva
Excuse me for the interuption here- but this is an email LIST.... therefore, any of your "emails" are getting sent to the hundreds of people that are subscribed to this list. Everybody here is reading this- if you guys wanted to keep it between yourselves- you should have privately emailed each other or who ever it was intended for. Screaming about a suggeston that was NOT directed to you - but rather to the admin of this list- is not a solution. And the hundreds of people who subscribe to this list do not need to read the two of you argueing. This is about genealogy research- and finding distant relatives- of which I have many that are subscribed on this list- and some whom have not. Can we get back to the main subject at hand, if neither of you object? Thank you.
<PRE>I have no reason why I am getting all this email on this topic. Please correct the problem as soon as possible.
LADY I HATE TO BE RUDE BUT I HAVE NOT SENT YOU ANYTHING AND DO NOT APPRECIATE YOU STATING ME TO CLEAR UP THE PROBLEM !!!!!
