You and I know that is not true, and that you MUST ask permission to republish any copyrighted material unless you can claim fair use of that material. But you would be surprised how common the misconception is that simply citing the source absolves you of the need to obtain permission. And of course Matt is correct that the source should ALWAYS be cited, regardless of whether the quoted material is copyrighted or public domain. Aside from the simple courtesy of acknowledging someone else's work, it is the only way to validate your own research :) Pat Asher
