    1. [STATE-COORD-L] Post to my CCs re: League of USGenWeb Voters

    3. I posted the following note to my CCs today. If anyone would like to utilize it, feel free. Shari Handley =================================== Early this morning, a group calling itself the "League of USGenWeb Voters" (also known as "USGenWeb Project Votes!) sent out a mass mailing to USGenWeb members. In the message, this group bills itself as an impartial service for you, the USGenWeb voters, claiming "no political slant or favoritism". The trouble is that, for most USGenWeb volunteers such as yourselves, who like to pretty much tend to your sites and not get embroiled in the politics of the project, the LUV looks like something akin to the League of Women Voters, which would have been a nice thing to have in the USGW. Unfortunately, though, it is pretty clear that's not what we've got there. Even a quick look at the message they sent out, with language such as, "You Have A Choice; More Of The Same, Or Change", hardly seems impartial, and at least one of the "webmasters" of the LUV is someone who has had a history of political agitation within our project. I urge you to exercise your right to vote in this USGenWeb election. Don't let anyone with a political agenda or axe to grind tell you who you should vote for. Here are some tools that may help you make educated choices: - Take a look at the candidates' campaign pages (http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgwelections/candidate.htm). - Look over the Advisory Board meeting minutes to get an idea of the ideas and voting patterns of the incumbants (http://www.usgenweb.org/official/vrecords.html) - Visit the list archives of the BOARD-L list to see how the incumbant candidates conduct themselves during Board meetings (http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=BOARD-L) - Visit the list archives of the USGENWEB-DISCUSS mailing list (and/or the now-defunct USGENWEB-ALL list) and do a search on the candidates' names to get a feel for what they stand for and how they conduct themselves (http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=USGENWEB-DI SCUSS) (http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=USGENWEB-AL L-L) Shari
