It's also a problem with trying to contact submitters in other circumstances. I include email addresses with every submission to my count site and get lots of querys about "do I have the new email address for" of "what happened to." I've just dealt with a couple of them this week. I weed out the bad addresses as I know about them, but maybe someone has some better solution. The USGenWeb Archives does not hold the copyright to the files it contains--it only has the right to post that information and cannot extend that right to other potential posters. As it stands, in a lot of cases additional information in regard to posts to county sites is unattainable and permission to reprint submissions to the Archives can't be obtained. But CCs still have the opportunity to link to any Archives submission. Suggestions on how to improve the system are always welcome. -Isaiah

If I find a bad address but the query contains information that could help other researchers 'as is', I leave it with a note about the bad address. If there's no such info, it is deleted. Connie
