And, I don't want my email address all over the place either. A link to the site with a suggestion that from there contact my be made for adoption of a county is sufficient. Every page? Not likely. I would hope that the intention was "every county site". Obviously I didn't notice. Thank you for point it out. Susan, Reference your comment about not wanting your email address all over the place, there is an option that is working beautifully in KY. Nancy Trice, the former SC, started an Email Registry that is in use on the state site, the KYGenWeb Archives, and on many of the county pages. Instead of using your email address on all of the pages, you use a link to your name on the registry. When someone wants to email you, they'll click on your link, your name will show up at the top of the list in the Registry, then they just have to click on the link and an email opens up addressed to you. Besides not having your email address plastered all over hundreds of pages, it's actually only on one page. Spam is cut down, and it sure makes it easier to update email addresses when they change - because your email address is only on the Registry page, that's the only place that has to be updated. For more info on the Email Registry, check out http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg To see it "in action", check out any email address links on the KYGenWeb state site at http://www.kygenweb.net or the KY Archives at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ky/kyfiles.html For specific counties to check, most of the counties that I'm archivist for use it. The Registry's open to anyone that wants to participate, not just to the KY sites. (And just so it's clear, the names and addresses will NEVER be sold or otherwise shared.)
