Again, what authority does anyone have to request the removal of a SC or CC? I doubt this is rootsweb's or the USGenWeb's policy or bylaws. As I said already to State-Coord-L, there is a broken link, so sue me! Duh! On a website as big as wygenweb, I don't spend my life fixing broken links. Nor does my life revolve around the USGenWeb. Wyoming has been, and will always be, a more "relaxed" state as far as the USGenWeb is concerned. In fact, this attitude is reflected in the state as a whole. Ever seen a cowboy obsessing about anything except a burr under his saddle? And now that I've started to talk about burrs under my saddle, let me tell you that I changed my email address to a Yahoo account because Yahoo is a little more aggressive about filtering out spam. It is purely in self-defense! I opened my Yahoo inbox this morning and found over 600 spam. This email adress has only been used on the State websites for a couple of months! If you don't want people to "hide-out" from the crap associated with having an email address on your mail pages (easily collected from the spam robots) then perhaps you could come up with a solution, such as using graphics with links instead of email addresses for everyone. But, alas! You'd rather fuss because someone isn't immediately available to your every request than fix a problem. Speaking of problems: I also don't check my email from USGenweb everyday because of all the infighting. I find it tedious and redundant. If some of you would stop reacting and over-reacting on every little issue, then perhaps I'd be more inclined to check my email more frequently. Do I want to read through all this nastiness? Nope. Very little ever comes to my inbox about pure genealogy or genealogy in Wyoming. Your recent attack on me for a broken link is just more of the general bull. Speaking of not answering emails! I have, in the past, sent emails to board members and the Advosory Board as a whole. Did I get a response? Heck, NO! But, you all complain if I don't answer you? Now I think that's "the pot calling the kettle black!" So, here's the problem. You don't think I have fixed a link. So you want me to step down. You don't think I monitor my cc's. Well, when the ADVISORY Board, as a whole, wants to ask me questions, just fire away. I'll answer them the next time I check my mail. In the meantime, the wygenweb website belongs to me. It's a rootsweb account. The website has been updated within the last few months (you can check by the time/date stamp I have for updates.). And when you're done with all that, please consider having a little compassion and interest in your VOLUNTEERS!. Now that would be a real change, wouldn't it? Thinking about PEOPLE and considering PEOPLE's feelings and possible problems and CARING instead of your knee-jerk responses and ultimatums and continual and never-ending fighting? We've had some things happening to our volunteers in the state that you know NOTHING about, including me. We've had deaths, we've had severe personal and health problems. Do *I* go around demanding resignations from my cc's when *I* know what's going on in my state? Nope! I value the people who DONATE their time, and give them TIME to do things in their own way at their own time, as you should do. The simple fact is that because I didn't fix a link, you are all in a bother. That's it. You know NOTHING about what has been happening to the volunteers in my state, or with me. You know what? You folks suck! (Yeah, yeah, I know I'll ! get blasted cuz of this email, and that will be just more of the same of crap out of the USGenWeb with the vocal ones wanting to hang someone instead of open and honest, caring, and "benefit of the doubt" communication!) The sad thing is that I'm not the only volunteer who feels this way. But the majority remain silent because the vocal majority jsut want to find something to gripe about, not to promote genealogy on the web. So sorry I don't live up to your expectations. But, last I heard, that wasn't required. You show me the Bylaw that says I'm a bad State Coordinator and maybe I'll get back to you folks. In the meantime, get off my back! Carol Haagense Still the STATE COORDINATOR OF THE WYGENWEB Gail Meyer Kilgore <gkilgore@globalcrossing.net> wrote: In checking both sites, John is right the links are broken to the Gen Connect boards, which are now a thing of the past. The Uinta County site has not been updated since July 2000 and the links there are also broken not only on the graphics but the text link. I hope we hear from the WY SC or the ASC on this matter so nothing else from the Region has to be done. WY State web pages look pretty good. I am requesting this because of your dereliction of duty. I wrote to both of you more than a year ago requesting that you remove the GenConnect links on the State and Uinta County pages. I heard back from neither of you, nor were the links removed. I wrote again on January 8th of this year to the Uinta County Coordinator, letting him know that the GenConnect boards have been gone for way more than a year and that the links on the page are dead. I did not hear back from him, and at this date (January 26, 2004), the links have not been removed. There is no way to post a query or a surname on the Uinta County page, in violation of USGenWeb requirements. The Wyoming State Coordinator is not only negligent in fixing/removing the links, but in guiding and overseeing of the county coordinators in her state. I find this to be grossly negligent. I feel that, with more than a year since you have first been appraised of the link situation by me, is more than patience enough. It is time for action. I request that you both step down immediately and let someone who cares take over. I am a former member of the GenWeb Projects and remain an avid user of the project. I know what kind of work and sometimes thankless job it can be, but I also know that by volunteering to do the job, you have agreed to do so to the best of you ability. Showing no effort at all in more than a year, more likely two years, is an effort that even my cat can attain. For the good of the Uinta County Project, the Wyoming State Project, and for the good reputation of the USGenWeb Project in general, please resign immediately!
