If a "Special Project" is created knowing that there is a finite amount of data that can be added, then it is CREATED as an exception to an existing rule requiring continuing additions. If the rule requiring ongoing additions of data was enacted subsequent to the creation of the Special Project, then the existing Project should be grandfathered unless other provisions were adopted at the time of instituting the new rule. However, the above begs the question of whether someone who is no longer actively contributing to the State Project should retain all of the perks of membership in that Project, e.g. the right to debate, run for office, vote, etc. Pat Asher

    3. Let me see if I got this right. I create a web site for the Civil War for IAGenWeb. I transcribe all of the rosters, the GAR and UCV posts, draft registrations, pension applications, regimental histories, diaries, letters from soldiers, and compile lists of all the Civil War soldiers, both Union and Confederate who ever lived in Iowa. Then the state coordinator can commandeer the whole body of work (and do with it what he/she wills) because there is no new material to be added and can kick me out for not updating my site. News flash!! The Civil War is over. There is no new material. The USGenWeb By-Laws state that the creator of a site is the owner. Question: Did IAGenWeb get Tina's permission to use her materials? ________________________________ From: Pat Asher <swsc.ccrep@att.net> To: state-coord@rootsweb.com; usgenweb-sw@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, January 6, 2013 5:06 AM Subject: Re: [STATE-COORD] Fwd: Orphan Train Riders in Iowa project At 10:19 PM 1/5/2013, Tina Vickery wrote: >The State Coordinator of IAGenWeb Project is more interested in rules >and bylaws than a period in history that is extraordinary in IA and >other states.
