I too checked it out. I put an announcement on the top of the KYGenWeb state page. I also downloaded the scrolling http://www.codeamber.org/ banner and in a few days I'll remove the big announcement and just put the banner on. While I don't approve of the biological parents/children searches, and other living persons, I feel this is a community service. I can just imagine what the mother of these children is going thru, especially with him possibly being a murderer as well. If I can help in any way to save the children I'll do it. However I am very torn by the ages of the children (3 and 5). I am also very afraid for them as the abductor is also wanted for murder. What these children may have been exposed to at such a young age breaks my heart. I would say that you could choose to post this if you feel it would help. It is often very hard to say no to some of the requests that we get, but. . . I agree with Joy, leave that kind of thing to the experts in their field. Leona Gustafson CO ASC

I had a request come in today to post an Amber Alert on the Indiana USGenWeb Project site. This doesn't fit any definition of genealogy research, nor does it seem appropriate. But, out of compassion, should something like this be posted? Have any of you faced this question yet? Gene Andert Acting State Coordinator INGenWeb ... A USGenWeb Project gandert@mac.com
I to received this also Gene. ILGenWeb does not post information about live people. There are many reasons not too. First and for most sometimes people lie to us. We are about Genealogy and History. We won't hurt someone as long as we deal in the past. Richard... Gene Andert wrote: > I had a request come in today to post an Amber Alert on the Indiana > USGenWeb Project site. Gene: I do not post this stuff -- many of them are hoaxes anyway. Let the police, the FBI, and the mass media handle it -- they do a good job and are much more efficient at it than we could ever be. --- Gene Andert <gandert@mac.com> wrote: > I had a request come in today to post an Amber Alert > on the Indiana > USGenWeb Project site. Perplexing... I received your message below without problem as well as several other State Coordinator messages today. I am also receiving other e-mail at this address and have throughout the day. Unless something was sent that appeared extraordinarily like Spam and was tagged by a filter I have no further explanation. I prefer to continue using this e-mail address. If you can send one of the bounced messages I can probably trace the problem. If all else fails you can contact me at the following address <Jarvis@Arizona.edu>. Thank you, Mike At 08:48 AM 11/26/2002 -0800, you wrote: >Mail to Mike Jarvis, Arizona SC is bouncing as "user unknown."
