    3. Hi Everyone: The old genealogy scam is back. www.genseekers.com Behind the password protection are links to the free genealogy on-line. There is no content of their own. In order to get the "5-day free trial" you have to surrender a credit card or bank account number. You have to cancel within 5 days or you get dinged. Guess what? The cancellation e-mail bounces. Does this surprise you? One person who recently fell for the come-on had his/her account dinged not once, but twice. It is time to remind folks on your state and county mailing lists about these scoundrels. It has been a couple of years since we have mentioned this. Permission is granted to pass this on. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Tax Center - forms, calculators, tips, more http://taxes.yahoo.com/

    1. [STATE-COORD-L] question on query standards
    2. Connie Snyder
    3. Hi everyone, I have a question about a post that was made through a QueryExpress query form and wonder if any of you have set any kind of a policy on this, or have any reservations at all. A professional genealogist posted a query for a client looking for that client's ancestors. She included a link to her own webpage. I'm of two minds about it. She was up front about the fact that she is getting paid for researching for someone else and is looking for information on a specific individual. On the other hand, by including her webpage she is also 'advertising' her services. Should this be posted? Should it be posted but without the webpage? Should I even be wondering about it in the first place? Have any of you come up with this situation, and what did you decide to do about it? Connie

    2. Joy Fisher
    3. Health concerns are forcing me to relinquish some of the hats I wear in USGenWeb. I am presently in charge of Query Express, USGenWeb's own query management system. I would like to find a volunteer to take over this responsibility. The successful candidate should be able to program in C++ in a Linux enviornment. Duties include making upgrades to the software, tracking down CCs whose queries are bouncing and helping them to update their profiles. Applicants can write to me privately. Please pass this message on to any and all USGenWeb mailing lists. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
