    1. [STATE-COORD-L] Appeal from EC
    2. Ellen Pack
    3. Hi, Folks - Voting passwords are currently being sent out, and thus far we've received close to 50 bounces. Approximately half or better of those are "chronic" bounces. They have bounced previously, some all the way back to at least April in the SEMA Poll. When the EC is unable to easily track down a valid addy by checking the website or county table, we must contact the state coordinators. Sometimes we get replies and corrections (which are very much appreciated), but sometimes not. Sometimes "new" addresses bounce also. Since the EC is not authorized to arbitrarily remove any names from the voter list, even when the addresses constantly bounce, we end up chasing down some of the same bad addresses over and over again. This redundancy creates a lot of wasted time, effort, and resources - not just for us, but also for you and for Larry Stephens who operates the voting software. If you receive a request for assistance from an EC member or helper, would you please either find a valid address for the volunteer or determine whether the volunteer should be removed from the voter list? If the name should be removed, please let us know right away. Thanks! Ellen Pack Chair, EC

    2. ILGenWeb State Coordinator
    3. We are pleased to announce that The BMD Project has moved to our own domain: http://www.bmdproject.com. Along with the move comes a complete site overhaul. 3. Patricia, You need to resize the files in an image program - I use Paint Shop Pro. If they are sized in inches rather than pixels, 5x7 will be a tremendous photo. For the average photo, sizing it at 350 pixels wide usually works well. Another good idea is to compress the .jpg file at least 25% - this is something you can also do in PSP. You would be amazed at how much that reduces the actual size of the file which results in a much faster download time for the user. The Archives Tombstone photo project is not an official "project" of the Archives, but some states have one as a convenience and service to researchers. If we ever had to cut back space in the Archives, (graphics, etc.), our priorities would be the ftp directory with text files and a search engine. Linda
