This is an OPTION for you to use - you can always sumbit your changes to the EC regional reps when you receive the request for updates. If you use the automated form to submit your updates, once submitted, you get the option of requesting a copy of the spreadsheet for your state. 1. [STATE-COORD] Coordinators not contacting people
    2. Billie Walsh
    3. I received a nice phone call from a lady last night who is having trouble contacting a County Coordinator and State Coordinator. Before I continue I want to say that I know people have lives outside their sites. And, the weather is so nice in most of the country lately people are enjoying it. [ I've been doing some of that myself ] I also understand that there can be extenuating circumstances why someone cannot reply in a timely manor. I also understand that there will be times when a site can go a while without any updates. The lady is interested in a county in Kansas that has not had any updates in about three years. She tried to contact the County Coordinator but never received a reply. She then attempted to contact the State Coordinator with the same results. I suggested to the lady that she contact the Regional Coordinator. But, I wanted to say something here. It is a requirement of the position of coordinator that visitors to our sites that make contact be replied to in a timely manor. If there is some reason why you would be unable to reply to contacts in a timely manor you should find a willing volunteer to take over the contact responsibilities while you are unable to. As coordinators we do not need to be alienating people. -- “The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government lest it come to dominate our lives and interests”. - Patrick Henry - _ _... ..._ _ _._ ._ ..... ._.. ... .._

We're listed under the participating "Societies" (they didn't have an option for a Project as such to register). If your state project would like to participate, you'll need to register as a participating "society" too (under the USGenWeb Project "umbrella"). To register as either a participating society or an individual transcriber (indexer), go to http://the1940census.com/. Participating projects/societies can add one of the Society badges displayed at https://the1940census.com/society/society-badges-3/ on their sites, as well as the individual indexers can participate in the Societies Games and Prizes. If you have any problems, please let either Linda Lewis (webmaster@cottonhills.com) or I (usgenwebnc@windstream.net) know so we can help. I know that we can mobilize an army to help indexing the census when it is released next week - please help make that happen! My thoughts and prayers, too, are with everyone who suffered from these directly or indirectly.  It will definitely be an ongoing recovery for so many! Today in North TX (where I live) there is very dark skies, high winds and torrential rain coming down. Always a possibility for severe stuff happening when the cold fronts meet the warm air here.  And that is happening as I type.  Standing by and hanging on for dear life,  Linda Ziemann, IAGenWeb Acting SC  ________________________________ From: Sherri <kyvitals@windstream.net> To: state-coord@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, March 4, 2012 2:41 PM Subject: [STATE-COORD] Check in After all of the bad weather the last couple of weeks, there are many of our Project members that may have been affected.  Would everyone please check in and let us know you're OK?  I know, personally, the tornados Wednesday were within about 20 miles of us (and only about 3 or 4 miles from one of my sons) and those Friday were about 65 miles from us.  For those affected by these horrible storms, my thoughts and prayers are with you, your families and the communities where you live.
