    3. Lynette, My Lord, girl! You do have a lot of information. You are a gold mine! I can't thank you enough for sharing the info with us and I look forward to receiving more and more as you find it. I wish I had even a tad of what you have -- I'm basically "dry" now... Yea, it's probably one of those who won't talk who has that Bible! Do any of them live close to you? Maybe you could visit and talk with them and explain just how silly it is to carry on a feud NOW! haha Who knows. As for Tabitha Massey/Maness/Manice/Mains.... I keep thinking we need to consider the times. Not very many people had much of an education back then -- so I would think their ability to spell correctly would be pretty poor. It could actually have been any of the spellings listed above -- or something else even! Who knows... Anyway, the fact is we know it's one of those or something very close. I would think that's one of the reasons I've seen Givens Starr's name spelled "Gibbons" -- someone wrote it wrong as he/she couldn't spell and thought it was "bb" and not "v" and Givens probably couldn't spell either or when he said his name it sounded like Gibbons so that's what was written. Many wrote according to how a name sounded to them. I think that more or less would explain the misspellings of names as we come across them. I think back then, folks were lucky if they could spell anything correctly -- schools weren't that well organized or available to everyone and teachers didn't have many supplies and probably had overcrowded schools -- and all "grades" were in one room. So if we think back to that time...... What do you think? Anyone? Crystal? Lynette? Ted? Sandy? Matt? Carol Ann? anyone else???? On another issue -- Lynette, could you also send me directions to the Starr Cemetery in Frio Co. I'm going home to San Antone in March and am planning on staying long enough to visit some cemeteries and try and get more research done. I have a couple of cousins I want to see -- in San An and in Austin as well. One of those cousins has the Cude genealogy stuff his grandfather did and I'm going to see if he has found it. It was my elderly cousin Elton Cude who gave me the information about being Cherokee. Before that, I thought we were Choctaw but when Elder did his research he told me I was wrong; also my great grandmother is supposedly buried in Moore Texas Cemetery -- I think it's the old Tomerlin (sp?) family cemetery -- there is a tombstone there for Molly Cude Henson. She is not buried there but at Ft Gibson, OK according to Elton. I don't know how or where he got his info but I know if he said it it must be right as he spent years and years doing research and had all the facts written out and was going to publish a book -- then he found out he had Alzheimer's and the book never got published and now no one seems to know who has the info he had. It could be in his house (his grandson lives in it now) but I don't know. I am going to contact him and see what he says. Anyway, back to what I originally was asking for -- directions from San An to the cemetery in Frio Co... Again, thanks for sharing so much with us. You are a true "find" for the rest of us and I am absolutely amazed by you. Lynette! I have horses too. Four of them. We have a lot in common, cous. Love to you and to your son. di TexasRio@aol.com wrote: > just a little note,,,I am not leaving my new family...I have had too > little in the past,,,andrew and permelia had bad blood ties with ??? > immediate siblings and left family ,,,never spoke to them again...some close > cousins still carry fued to this day..will not chat if we call for > info,,,,maybe she / he are the ones with the bible? hahaha they are > great-great aunt/uncle/cousins so go figure what reason then or > now....sending yall big hugs and kisses with a blessing from God to our > circle becoming intertwined again....lynette
