I am trying to find the origins of my ggg grandfather, Roswell Starr. I have two birth dates for him, 1745 and 1767. The 1767 date is more reasonable given that his wife Lois Hawkes was born in 1771. He might have been from CT but some information shows him being born in upstate NY. Perhaps Otsego county. Lois Hawkes was born in MA and apparently came to Richfield Springs NY with her parents. The headstone from his wife's grave refers to Roswell as Col. Roswell. They had two children, Roswell and James.
