    3. Lily, You are sooooo funny. I know what you mean. I would tell my husband that I know "my people" lived -- after all, I'm here so they must have! -- so why can't I find anything on them???? Well, now that I am finally getting info on my Adam and his family -- and have now been blessed with cousins Ted and Lynette and Crystal....wow! It's happening! So, don't YOU give up either. All the Starrs are looking for info and we all share so maybe one of these days you'll be lucky and find your folks. Heck, we could ALL be related and I'm pretty sure we are. I was told that all STARRS are related to each other -- it's just finding those primary ancestors you search so hard for. Post them again! Never too much and it helps refresh everyone else's memories so if we do see something, we make a connection and will pass it along... Enjoy! by the way, are you sure they're from MARS? haha Maybe Venus -- you know, "Men are from Mars, Women from Venus" -- the book???! di kenl wrote: > Hey all you STARR family branches, > My search has come up empty since 1959. I was in the same place you are right now -- didn't know anyone who knew anything about my Adam Starr and his family and it was quite awhile before anyone came aboard who knew anything at all. NOW there are a few of us -- Lynette, Ted, Crystal and Glenn (who I'm trying to get on our Starr-L list).... So, don't give up. You will find what you are searching for -- just be patient. I know that's easy to say and believe me when I say I know exactly what you're feeling right now -- but patience will pay off.     3. Don't know anything about this Givens -- he would have been born in 1864.... But since the names are used over and over and over again........ That's why we see so many Johns, Henrys, James, Thomases, etc. Wonder whose son this Givens was??? And Richard? Know nothing about him either. It's possible -- age wise -- that Richard could have been the father of this Givens even. Hmmmmm Anyone have any ideas? Thanks Lynette. Wish it were my Givens but it's not.     3. In my opinion, Ancestry.com, is a mixed bag. Their free stuff offers access to a large gedcom collection, as well as a few other data bases. Also, they will put you on their Email list and keep you informed of their new data bases being added, which are free for ten days. All that's great. But the few times I've tried to use their other data bases, I've been disappointed. Our local library buys their service, so I can use it there. Since it's been a long while since I listed my STARR query, here it is again. My great grand father waws Eli STARR, born about 1820. who married Martha Jane COBURN(sp?) in 1847 in Dutchess Co., NY and lived in Greenhaven, Beekman Twp, where he was a blacksmith. Their marriage announcement said he came from Patterson Co., NY. There was a Josiah STARR in Patterson who could be his father, but I've found not specific evidence of that relationship. Can anyone help me? This Josiah is desc from Comfort, so all I need is one little step to go all the way back to England in the 1600's. Norm Morrison in Hendersonville, NC Researching COBURN & STARR in Dutchess County, NY in the 1840's;

    3. Lynette, TexasChat has been discussing this exact thing. Some are saying it's worth it and others are saying it's not. I don't know. Some say they wasted their money because they found the info they were looking for elsewhere where others feel it's a "last resort" and still others feel it's a good thing. I think I'll wait and not join now. What does everyone else think? If I see any more emails on this subject on the TexasChat site, I'll forward them to you. Unfortunately, I've deleted them all. Take care. di TexasRio@aol.com wrote: > is anyone out there member of ancester.com ect type sites? are they > worth spending the money to join? 3. Not a problem Dawn. You have been invited. To (try) to answer your question on the Capt. Starr Family Site. Most family sites I have seen has the option of "forgot your password?". By choosing this it usually asks your 'username' or 'email'. Since you don't recall the username hopefully it allows you to put in your email address. The site will then email you your information. If the site does not have this option. Perhaps you can think of someone else that is in the Family Site. You could email that individual for assistance. Maybe he or she can contact the admin of that site who can reset your username and password or give it to you. Hope this helps. >From: Dawn Wilson <wilson_rd@stellar.net> >Reply-To: STARR-L@rootsweb.com >To: STARR-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: Suggestion for combining info >Date: Wed, 03 Nov 1999 21:24:14 -0800 > >Matt, > >My name is Dawn Starr Wilson.
