As for Judy saying that Henry Starr and Catherine Wells were the parents of Adam -- no, she didn't say that -- I believe it's what Lynette thinks, but I'm not so sure. Haven't found "proof" that Henry and Fletcher were one and the same. Can't remember who told me that... Help!?????!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, please be patient. Judy's (Judy is Julia Starr Brown, by the way) -- and my cousin!! -- has problems with her computer right now so can't send anything but is still able to receive email.... I'm sure she's aware that you have questions and she'll respond when she can. I got an email from her daughter tonight telling me about the computer problems and I responded to her. Sounds like a lovely young lady. Anyway, hang in there. I'm trying to figure some things out. Where is Lynette and Ted???? They have a lot of info and probably need to share it again... 3. OK. I kept pouring over my old stuff until I came across another correspondence from the list. Julia Starr Brown gives Adam's parents as Henry and Catherine Wells Starr. It was info. from a distant cousin with no proof. Then Lynette wrote, "This is it! I had Henry marrying either Mary Lee, which was incorrect, or Catherine Wells. Family link found." So I don't know what to think of Calidonia's notes. Also, where did the two (Lynette and Julia's cousin) both come up with the information on Catherine Wells.? It works for me, but I just would like to know the sources if possible. Do we know anything else about her? Sorry to take up so much space and time from all of you. Thanks again. Crystal

    3. Thanks to you all for your input about my question on Henry Starr. I'd still like to find out more about him. Diana, the reason I put Mary Lee as wife of Henry comes from the information that Lynette shared with us from Calidonia Starr. In it Calidonia said that she was a descendant of Andrew Hamilton Starr ("my grandfather" she wrote); Andrew's father was Adam ("my g-grandfather"); Adam and his sister Eve were "born to Henry Starr and Mary Lee, who was a Cherokee girl". She also has listed the children of Adam and Hannah and another list with these children and who they married. There isn't a Henry mentioned on either list. There was no Fletcher mentioned either, and we have him on the 1850 census as a 1 yr old. I know that you told me that Henry and Fletcher are the same person. Do we have something to show that? Also his marriage information? Could he possibly have died before he was old enough to marry? Calidonia continues at the end of the material, "Written by Callie Starr, Cail. Parts which were copied from family record of my mother Martha Dorinda Gallaway Starr and from my Grandmother Charity M. Tally Starr." Martha was married to Andrew H the son of Andrew Hamilton. Charity was married to Andrew Hamilton ("they are my grandparents" said Calidonia.) I know that there is also a list given on the same material that has 9 generations back starting with Adam Starr. These are questionable because it puts them all in a period of about 142 years--an average age of 15.5 for each to have been fathers. This is the list on which Calidonia has, "Henry and Mary Lee (Cherokee) (he is my gg-grandpa)". I have also seen on this Starr list that Henry, the (possible) father of Adam, was married to a Catherine Wells. Is there someone who can tell me where that information came from? So you see my confusion. Maybe all of you can help me straighten it all out. Thanks, Crystal

This Henry was born in 1849.... I don't know who Adam's father was as yet. It could have been another Henry. I believe Lynette has been thinking along the lines that Adam's father was another Henry (don't forget that names were used over and over again back then) and that this Henry was possibly married to a woman named Catherine Wells. The Mary Lee that you are talking about was Cherokee. di Crystal Burleson wrote: > I have recently been doing some digging and have come up with another > mystery to solve. 3. RE: Jonathan Whitaker Bagby and second wife Martha Starr. Thanks so much for everyone replies. They did answer several questions. My interest started with Martha's first husband Matthew T. Sparks. He died in Andersonville Prison during the Civil War. He died July 9th 1864. Martha and Matthew had three children, John, Elizabeth and Matthew. She then married Jonathan Whitaker Bagby on December 8th 1867. Here is where it has an interesting turn. On April 9th, 1869 a Jeremiah Sparks [Martha's first husbands brother] files for guardianship of Martha's three children by Matthew Sparks. He is granted guardianship and also collects military pension from the government to help in there support. Those three children grew and lived with their Uncle Jeremiah. As far as can be determined they all three lived and died near Lynnville, Iowa. She entered marriage with Jonathan Bagby with three children of her own and he had five children from his first marriage. That would be a lot of mouths to feed. I would be interested in knowing why she gave up her children by her first marriage. They the proceed to produce four children between them. Martha Starr, Sparks, Bagby is buried in Grangeville Cemetery, Armona, Kings Co, CA. OLD Section - Lot 365 - Space 1. There is a small marker that only says "Martha Bagby" Jonathan W. Sparks is also buried there according to they records available at the cemetery. I could find no marker for his grave. [I have a picture of her grave marker if interested]. I would like very much to have additional information regarding the descendants of Jonathan and Martha. It's always interesting to learn more. I know they lived in Delaplaine Ar. I visited them ( my Grandparents) when I was a child, and went to his funeral in 1957-58-59? I can't remember, for sure, and everyone is gone now to ask. I had no idea I would be interested in Genealogy later in life, so never asked questions, I was sure we went to his funeral in Pocahontas Ar. have checked the cemeteries that are on line there and can't find him. If you run across anything, I would appreciate your keeping me in mind. I live in Houston, so guess I am going to have to take a trip to Arkansas, I am new at all of this so I am going in different directions.
