    2. My name is Brenda and I am working on my grandfather, Robert Stantons family. Robert Stanton was born Oct 20 1911 Muskogee Co Okla Robert married Ella Hedge on Dec 17 1933 Creek Co Okla,and Robert died May 2 1984 in Kern Co Calif. His parents were James Wallace Stanton and Francis LouElla Holmes. Jame and Francis were married Nov 14, 1908 McIntosh Co Olka. James was born May 12 1885 Panola Co Miss and died Oct 1 1955 and is buried in Kern Co Calif. Francis was born June 1893 Johnson Co Ark. and died Jan 29 1916 Okmulge Co Okla. Laboror Railroad Nancy M mother F W 4 53 47 Widowed Ark Edwards Bell Sister F W 2 83 17 Married Miss Stanton Zelma Sister F W 7 90 10 Single Miss James brother M W 5 85 15 Single Miss In 1890 There were no Census Found for most of the 1890's were destroyed by fire.In 1883 Bell was born and in 1885 James and Zelma were born in Oct of 1892, Three months after Her father was killed. It has been said that George Stanton was killed on 4th of July He was hit in the head by a horse shoe by a drunk I assume in Panola Co Since James was born there. Going to 1880 I found George and Nancy in Tate Co Miss: In 1880 US Census Tate Co Thyatra Township page 53 George Stanton W M 56 Blacksmith B Ky Nancy W F 32 Keeping house Ak Thomas W M 11 Works on farm Ms Minnie W F 7 Ms Andrew C W M 2 Ms ( A John was listed in 1870 age 2 John died before 1880 He would of been 12 and wasnt listed) I found George and Nancy in Marshall Co Miss in 1870: 1870 US Census Marshall Co: Watson Township page 707 George Stanton 42 M Blacksmith B Ky Nancy 18 F Ak John 2 M Ms Thomas 7/12 M Ms I also Found that on Sept 24 1867 George and Nancy Matlock married in DeSoto Co Miss. I havent found George Stanton in 1860 but I do know that in 1858/69 Lafayette Co Miss A George married a Martha Edward and I assume that shes the mother of George Jr who I found in Conway Co ... I guess maybe George and Martha may of went to Indiana where George Jr was said to be born... Looking in Lafayette Co in 1850 Index book there were no Stantons or Edwards there. But I did find where George Stanton enlisted for the Civil war: July 26th 1862 George Enlisted in the Army from Elba, Coffee Co Ala for 3 yrs.. George was first in the Co A-33 Ala and was later in the Miss Sharp Shooters Co B 15 Battalion . The 15th Infantry Ban was organized in the fall of "62" and had broke upby "64". Sherman at Durham Station, North Carolina on April 26, 1865. As you can see I am not sure what took place with George Jr and his mother Martha Edwards Stanton but any of you who has worked the Stantons in Indiana I would sure like to hear from you. In 1850 I found George living in Scott Co Ky In which Ky was the State he was born in... He was working on a farm., Not living with his parents: 1850 at the age of 26 George was living in Scott Co Ky. George was found living with Jesse Morgon family on page 486 The census said he was a labor. I cant help but think the Stanton male 80-90 is Williams father who the age would fit for William Stanton B 1750 in Culpeper Co Va and married Lucy Blackwell . In 1820 I ran across 2 Williams One in Harrison Co Ky the other in Rockingham Co Va and I believe the William in Rockingham is the one I am tracing:The 1810 Rochingham Co Va Census read : 2 males under 10 1 male 10-16; 1 male 16-26 and 1 male 26-45 2 females under 10 ;1 female 10-16 ; 1 female 16-26 I have nothing on William in 1810 ,1800 Or 1790 But I did find a William who married a Feby Powell on Dec 25 1794 in Madison Co Va which is near Culpeper Co Va where I believe William and Feby were born. I did run across this in Virginia But I cant say for sure he is the William Stanton I am looking for. In a 1785 a William Stanton shows up in Cambell Co. 1785 Campbell County, Virginia Personal Property Tax List District No. 3 Stanton, William 1one white male 21 or older---4 horses 11cattled William Stanton witnessed the marriages of John Fisher and Rachel Jones Oct 17, 1799 and William Halloway and Sarah Stanely July 19 1790.....Campbell Co. Marriages.. Va A William Stanton is still in Cambell Co in 1799....By the 1810 Census no Stanton shows up in Culpeper Co Va. The stuff Ive collected on that William is: William Stanton Jr born around 1749 Culpeper Co Virginia.... He was 14 when his father William Stanton died in 1763...Williams mother Dianah (Field) Stanton namd her Son William and his childern in her will which probated in 1811 Stanton, Will State : VA County : Prince William Co. Ive collected notes on William Stanton Sr and his wife Diana Field daughter of Henry Field Sr..as well as Williams father Thomas Stanton Sr. I am trying to find Thomas Stanton Sr father and have a few ideas on who but not to say for fact that they are... If any one is familiar with these Stantons in Okla, Ark, Miss, Ind, Ky, and Va please speak out.... Brenda
