Hi, Stantons, I'm glad to see so much activity on the list lately. It just happens that I got two great bits of information today, and I hope you won't mind my sharing it here. First, a very nice volunteer in CT copied "The History of the First Congregational Church in Stonington, CT" and sent me the entire book! Needless to say, it will take awhile, and I will start transcribing the baptism and marriage dates first. Most of this book is online at genealogy.com (with some missing sections), but I'd like to make it free accesss on the New London County CTGenWeb site. The next announcement is forwarded from Larry Chesebro' and some of you may have gotten the same message. Hope you don't mind my forwarding it, but Larry has a lot of info on these families. If you haven't visited the New London County CTGenWeb lately, give it a try...it is all new! Pat Sabin CC New London County CTGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~ctnewlon FROM LARRY: Hi all, I finally did it. I've promised and promised but kept trying to get the "last" database update recorded before I updated the home page. I just had to realize updating my records will never end and there will never be a "good" time to update the home page. About 6,000 new entries are now in the home page. I have tried to restructure the "Family Files" prologue and viewing area to streamline the process somewhat. Sanford is a new Family File. Although I have not found another GEDCOM to HTML program as feature robust as my Progenitor, I am trying Gedpage for a new file Descendants of the First Settlers of Stonington, Connecticut . This file contains all my data for the descendants of William Chesebrough, Walter Palmer, Thomas Miner and Thomas Stanton. I wanted to try Gedpage because it provides for "footnotes" of source citations. Only problem with that is that the current version doesn't process Name field source citations! Overall, it doesn't come close to providing the different views and features of Progenitor and it really is a byte hog - more that 24,000 files to do just this one file. Please let me know what your thoughts are between the two processes. For all you "Chesebrough" family missing links, the Alphabetical list by given name of all surname spelling variations of Chesebrough is now up-to-date with about 3,000 names. Please review this for the given names of your family members to see if the spelling variation of the last name has caused us to miss the link to William's descendants. Other interesting updates include Ingraham/Ingram disclaimer details for ancestral links to Slingsby, Mallory and Royal families, Walter Palmer disclaimer details to some published ancestral lineage, Thomas Stanton records that now prove his ancestral lineage to George Washington's family, and a different ancestral lineage for our McCollum ancestry. The Picture Gallery will not be updated until later this week but I have it outlined - just need to now finish scanning and adding he pictures but they will be there by week's end - PROMISE! PLEASE be sure to review your specific lineage and let me know any corrections or additions - and for those of you that I have either not finished or even started what you sent me, please be sure to remind me so I can prioritize your data before the next :) update! I will not go so long between updates again - should be about 90 days between.
