    3. Hi - I am new to the digest and am on a mini crusade to correct an error made in William Henry Stanton's book Our Ancestors the Stantons. I keep seeing it repeated over and over so thought I would try to get the information out. Henry Stanton (1688-1751) and his first wife Mary Hull had a daughter named Catherine, born 28 October 1713 in Newport RI. According to Stanton's book she is the Catherine Stanton who married Isaac White 5th Mo 11 day 1754 at Core Sound MH, Carteret Co, NC. This is not true. The Catherine Stanton who married Isaac White was the daughter of Henry Stanton, Junior and his first wife Alice Borden. Henry and Alice were first cousins and perhaps for that reason their marriage was not recorded in the Quaker records, but by piecing together information from original Carteret County records; ie. land deeds, the will of William Borden and the wills of Henry Stanton, Sr and Henry Stanton, Jr. there is enough evidence to show that Henry Stanton, Jr. married first Alice Borden and had two daughters, Catherine, born 5th 1mo 1737 (the one who married Isaac White) and Alice who married William Brittain. Alice died sometime between Mar 1745/46 and 10 Feb 1748/49. Henry married 2nd Hope Borden 12 2 mo 1750 and this marriage is recorded in the Quaker records. They had a number of children. The Catherine who was born to Henry Stanton, Sr and Mary Hull I have so far found no record of except for her birth. If anyone is following this line and is interested I will be happy to e-mail an attachment of the documents I listed above. (Microsoft Word files) Thanks for your patience. I also have an inventory of the estate and the results of the estate sale of Henry Stanton, Jr. if anyone wants it. It's interesting reading. Karin Goudy
