I realized later that the date for Asa Stanton is a baptismal date, so he could have been several years old. My first instinct is to suspect a second wife, but Elizabeth outlived Phineas. Esther Gallup who married Phineas, Jr. did the same thing...had kids for YEARS and still outlived her husband. No, I'm not in New London County. I'm in a suburb of Atlanta, and we have nice libraries but not for research. If I ask them to get a history or genealogy book for me, they look absolutely horrified. I do have somebody in New London County who's doing town research for the town pages. I've spent a fortune on books! I welcome contributions on regional history and early families!
