I have one Stanton at this point in my genealogy, Lucy Stanton, who was born in Halifax, Vermont. B. June 27, 1781 d. 1866 in Lenox, Madison cty, NY. married to Joel Ufford who ws born Jan 7, 1773 in Chatham, CT. He died in 1848, also in Lenox. Their children were: Edward G. b. July 15, 1801 in E. Windsor CT;Lucy b. July 15, 1803 in E. Windsor CT; Sophronia b. July 28, 1805 m. Aralsemon Francis; George W. b. March 4, 1807 in E. Windsor Ct. m. Amanda Pitts; Marcia A. b. July 27, 1809 E Windsor, Ct. m. Harry Francis; F.F. b. Jan 9, 1811 E Windsor ,CT; Nancy E. b. May 4 1814 in E Windsor, Ct.; Julia A. b. April 3, 1817 in Somerset VT; Rachel E b. June 16, 1819 in Dover, VT.; and Joel Sanford b. Dec 9, 1823 in Dover, VT. Sophronia is my 3g gm. It is interesting that Sophronia and Marcia each had a son named William H. Francis who both were killed in the Civil War. Sophronia's son was killed at Gettysburg, and Marcia's son was killed at Bull Run 2. They grew up up mere miles apart, Lenox and Canastota in Madison cty NY. Would love to find out any information about Lucy Stanton's parents or siblings. Also, why was she born in VT, her first few children born in Ct, her last three children born in VT, and of course, they died in NY. any suggestions?
