I was tracing back my husbands CHANDLEY line through LDS Family Search files. I made it back as far as John Chandley b.~1822 Yancy, NC. LDS files list his father as Solomon STANTON b.1784 VA m.~1814 Yancy, NC to Sarah Sally Chandley b.~1800 Yancy, NC. Now there has got to be a story here. They were married when she was 14. Son John is born 8 years later. He lives his life carrying his mother's surname, even passing it on to his children. FYI, Yancy Co. NC is NE of Buncombe Co. NC where Asheville is located.
