Hi, All, I have made progress on my Stantons in bits and pieces, but I'm still struggling with a few mysteries: Phineas, Senior's descendancy: Thomas>Samuel>Daniel>Phineas, Sr. Phineas, Sr., b. 1719, married Elizabeth Stanton, descended from Robert. I only have three children for this couple but think there were more: 1. Phineas, Jr., b. 1741 2. Enoch, b. 1745; m. Waity Dyer 3. Anna, b. Sept. 5, 1758; m. Joseph Stanton Phineas Stanton, Jr., b. Aug. 9, 1741 in Stonington; m. (1st) Zurviah Eldredge. They had one child: 1. Zurviah, b. Nov. 27, 1765. She m. Reuben Palmer. I have other dates & some descendant information. Phineas Stanton m. (2nd) Esther Gallup, daughter of Elisha Gallup (I have dates and ancestry). Their children born in Stonington: 2. Eldridge Stanton, b. Dec. 31, 1769; m. Mary Cory; he d. in Battle of Black Rock, Dec. 31, 1813. Had at least one child, Elizabeth Stanton Wolcott. 3. Phineas Stanton, III, b. Dec. 27, 1771; d. Jan. 30, 1776 4. Esther Stanton, b. May 14, 1773- I do not have any other information on her 5. Polly Stanton, b. Dec. 13, 1775; d. Sept. 17, 1776 6. Polly Stanton, b. Oct. 18, 1777; d. abt 1840 - no other information Children born in Hartland, Windsor County, VT: 7. Phineas Stanton, b. May 21, 1780; m. Polly thomas Dec. 1, 1803; he d. March 31, 1842 in Wyoming Co, NY (buried at W. Middlesbury Cemetery). Had at least one son, Phineas. 8. Daniel Stanton, b. March 22, 1783; m. Martha "Patty" Fuller; he d. Feb. 14, 1869. This family migrated to NY>McHenry Co, IL>Wisconsin. 9. Elizabeth Stanton, b. September 8, 1785; m. Gaius Thoms Dec. 9, 1802; d. in McHenry Co, IL Had at least one child: Edwin Eldredge Thoms (name later changed to Thomas). 10. Mercy/Marcy Stanton, b. May 3, 1788; m. Sylvanus Sabin about 1810; she d. Nov. 10, 1874 in DuPage County, IL. This is my ggg-grandmother. I have not been able to locate her birth record. HERE'S THE MYSTERY: There are two younger children listed as the children of Phineas Stanton, Jr and Esther Gallup Stanton. The 1800 census shows these two children and another woman, aged 26-44, in the household. As Phineas and Esther would have been in their 40s and 50s at the birth of these two girls, I believe they belong to the other woman. Who are they & who is she??? And, is it possible Mercy/Marcy could fit in with this family??? Their names: Zurviah, b. August 23, 1791 Eunice, b. Nov. 5, 1795
