Re: Ted Haase's inquiry about the meaning of "Black Dutch." It occurs to me that "Black" might be a translation into English of the German word "Schwartze" which in turn could have been a mishearing of "Schweitze" which means Swiss. Grandma might have been saying her family was "Schweitze Deutsch" (Swiss German), which someone misheard/mistranslated as "Schwartze Deutsch" (Black Dutch).
