I am searching for Stanton's who would have connections with Lynch (Thomas), Martin's and Joyce's of Co Galway - Connemara area. I have notes of a Honor Stanton with a Thoms Lynch and also the name of Madeline D'Arcy --1800 or so. If you have a connection, please contact me. Carol
STANTON PRENTICE: I've have been helping Floyd Kelling in his efforts to trace the ancestry of his John P. Prentice who first appeared in the 1820 census in Greene, Chenango Co., NY. Also appearing in that same census was Stanton Prentice with an indicated birth year between 1760-75. It is now virtually certain that Stanton is John's father, but so far we have not been able to identify Stanton Prentice's parents. It is possible that STANTON PRENTICE served in the revolutionary war and was taken prisoner and escaped in a barrel. We did a calculation to see what STANT0N PRENTICE'S birth date would have had to be if he had been captured during the Rev. War (1776-1783); assuming he was at least 16 in 1776, that would give a birth date of 1760. The 1820 census information indicates he was born between 1760-1775, so it is consistent with military service. We have also located two additional men who may be related to Stanton Prentice. They are Perez Prentice (see our new Prentice Book, pg. 459) and Elijah B. Prentice who appeared in Oxford, Chenango Co., NY with an indicated birth year of 1790-1800. If you have information which will help us identify the parents of Stanton Prentice and the other folks, please contact me. Stanton Family Researchers: I am looking for anybody researching Sarah Ann STANTON born Nov 23, 1805 (prob. Charlestown RI). Sara Ann married George C BROWN and lived in Charlestown RI and Stonington CT. She was the daughter of Samuel Stanton of Charlestown RI who married Elizabeth REYNOLDS and of course she traces back to Thomas Stanton of Stonington. My g grandmother, Sarah Anna THOMPSON was a housekeeper for George Brown and Sarah Ann(a?) Stanton, according to the 1860 census. I believe that Sarah Anna Thompson was probably named after Sarah Ann Stanton since the Thompsons had lived in Charlestown and Stonington and Sarah Anna Thompson was quite young when she was keeping house for the Browns. The Thompsons were also connected closely to the Reynolds family and Brown family as well. Does anybody have Sarah Ann Stanton as an ancestor? I have a Lydia Stanton b. ca. 1850 married to Asher Rood (Rude) in possibly Preston or Norwich, CT. I assume she comes down the Thomas Stanton line, but since there are 2 Lydia's at the time, I can't determine who her parents are. I have looked at the Barbour Collection, Hale Collection, all of CT CD's and can't find what I'm looking for. Can anyone out there help me? Dottie Lewis

Hi. I am a fellow genealogist trying to help others. The other day I was browsing an antique store and found some identified old photos. One was of a woman indentified as "Mrs. LeRue Stanton (Aunt Addie)". The photo was taken at an Oneida NY photographer. Addie is a young woman about 25 or so. The dress suggests the photo was taken in the late 1800's or early 1900's. Let me know via direct email response if you are interested or if you know someone who might be. I am not interested in making any big profits here, just eager to help out fellow genealogists who might wish to have a photo of their ancestor. I hate to see family heirlooms lost or discarded in antique shops. Please respond via direct email, as I only subscribed to this list to make this posting. Lorien Gunsallus Orlando, FL
