    3. Fellow genealogists! Please visit my newly-updated "Unidentified People Pages"! http://www.fortunecity.com/millenium/firemansam/78/UNK/Unidentified_main.html The 150 photographs on the Unidentified People Pages are of a few of my father's ancestors as well many of their relatives and friends. Most of the unidentified people lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, and Indiana. Many were Quakers. I've included the photographer's name and address as well as other notations when available. Some of the names below are wholly or partially identified on the photographs, or easily could be included among those which are unidentified. If any of these names are in your database, you should take a few minutes to check the photos out! 3. Looking for Orin George Stanton b. abt 1852 (supposedly parents were from Germany) m. Carrie Young in Paulding Co OH Aug 24, 1878. They had five children: Clara May b. 1879, Ida b. 1881, George b. after 1882, Charles b. after 1882, Albert Manford Stanton b. 1883. Supposedly they either moved to Michigan or Wisconsin where Carrie died of cholera before 1890. Orin came to Waco Texas. He left the two girls with a family named Hall in a boarding house in Waco and he and the boys went to Colorado to work at the sawmills. Albert moved to Augusta Kansas and then to McClain Co OK. Any connections? Norma Karter

    3. Brenda, What other info do you have on your Thomas Stanton (19 M W Farmer b Ky shown in the 1850 Kentucky Census Rusell Co)? I have been searching for my gr-gr-grandfather Thomas N. Stanton. I have no dates but do know he married a women name Elizabeth and had two sons, Owen b. 1858 and August. Your Thomas would be the right age but my Thomas left to serve in the Civil War on the Union side. His wife died shortly afterward and his infant sons were cared for by others. They lived in Newark, Licking Co., OH. I don't know when they came there. His wife might have been from that area and went there when he left for the war. He served as Master at Arms aboard the Benton, Flagship of Admiral Porter of the Mississippi Squadron. After the war he came back sporadically but never lived in Newark with his children. His son Owen worked on a farm and was listed as such in the 1870 census, being then 15 years old. Let me know if this looks like it could be your Thomas. It certainly would end a long search. Also, according to the Chesebrough database, the son of Phineas, Sr, Anna Stanton, m. Nathan Stanton, who was the nephew of your John! 3. Stanton Prentice of Greene, Chenango Co., New York I have been helping Floyd Kelling in his efforts to trace the ancestry of his Stanton Prentice who first appeared in the 1820 census in Greene, Chenango Co., NY. Presently available information indicates that Stanton Prentice was born about 1760 in CT, probably in the area of New London, Stonington or Preston. Family tradition has it that Stanton Prentice "served in the revolutionary war...was taken prisoner and escaped in a barrel." With the first name of "Stanton," it seems likely that his mother, his paternal grandmother, or one of his maternal grandparents, may have Stanton roots. I've located some Stanton-Prentice marriages, but so far have not been able to show Stanton Prentice as descended from any of those marriages. I have also located two additional men who may be related to Stanton Prentice. One is named Perez Prentice who may be his brother. The other is Elijah B. Prentice, b. c. 1790-1800, who may be a son, or perhaps a nephew. If you have information which will help us identify the parents of Stanton Prentice and the other folks mentioned, please contact me. 3. (Previous Post Corrected) Hi Fellow Researchers, I have been informed that the new STANTON Surname Query Board is not yet accessible. The Webmasters of GenConnect are upgrading and simplifying the Surname Search program, and my Query page is listed in the new setup which is presently only accessible by Sys Admin and Page Managers. Last night they said it will be up and running in the next couple days. When I received confirmation that the new Query Board had been Activated, I assumed that it was made available for people to submit posts to it. Here is where the Query page should be when it is finally activated: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Stant on (This URL may be clipped on the end, with the "ton" or "on" on the next line: /FamilyAssoc/Stanton) or You can go through the Rootsweb Surname Search to access the board when it finally made available. If fellow researchers would be interested in and have data to submit to additional boards on the Surname Query Page, (Bios, Obits, Bible Records, Deeds, Pensions, Wills) I can add them anytime. As Julie Case says, keep trying every day or so until it is finally made available for public posting. Have a nice day, Don Stanton TeeSquare@ecr.net

    3. Viki- It doesn't sound much like it. My folks came from VA into Northampton Co.,NC, thence to Edgecombe Co. ( our part of which is now Wilson Co.) As far back as we can trace the earlier ancestry, it is James I thru James V, thence Washington May S., George Washington S., and John C. S. John C. was my grandfather, died about 1937. Do not remember any of the first names that you mentioned as siblings of my ancestors. If you run across any Jameses, please let me know. Sorry I can't be of help. 3. I am trying to link a James Stanton of the 17th century VA birth with an immediate ancestor who was probably the immigrant. I have records of this James who died in Surry Co. in 1719, left a will, etc. Some say that John was his father. I have never seen indication of this. May have been in Isle of Wight Co. as well. If anyone knows of this line, please let me know. Josh Stanton

    2. Hi all, I'm looking for the parents of Sally Stanton who was born sometime during the 1770's in a place called Staton, North Carolina. As far as I know, Staton no longer exists, though it's been suggested that Stantonsburg, North Carolina was Staton at one time. Sally moved to Granville County, NC, where she married William Harp on May 24, 1787. Any help would be appreciated. Analee Watts, IBSSG
