There recently was a message sent regarding the above. I am VERY interested in a Joshua STANTON of that era. HOWEVER, the message I received this week from Rootsweb regarding the above was a problem. I could not open it. It had a blue screen with holiday message or something. I got an error message. So I forwarded it on to my husband at work to see if he could open it. Not only did he try but he also got a virus from this e-mail. The virus was "party" originating from Italy on December 14. Very new. Now I am sure that our Stanton member was quite unaware of this virus. He just got it from somewhere else and it attached to his/her e-mail. The virus is not damaging, and it only attaches through e-mail. Now I don't know much about these things so am only passing on what a computer guru told me. I deleted my e-mail and had no problem since I could not open it. Again, I am very interested in this JOSHUA STANTON so please whoever sent the last message, please resend to me later on. Merry Christmas to all you Stantons out there. Linda lstanton@kuntrynet.com
I think you are working on a descendant of Robert Stanton of Newport RI. The Thomas Stanton book has only two descendants of Thomas with the name of Job - both born in the 1800s. It does have two entries for Job Stanton - people it identifies as not descendants of Thomas. Maybe they will help you with yours. Job Stanton (a descendant of Robert Stanton of Newport) married Amy Bell (a widow) 26 June 1774 by Rev. Nathaniel Eells in Stonington Church, Charles H. Stanton (Hannah Hewitt, Hannah Stanton, Lt. Joseph, Joseph, John, Thomas) b. 8 May 1790 m (1) Emma Stanton, dau of Job Stanton, a descendant of Robert Stanton of Newport, RI. > -----Original Message----- > From: John J. Any help on the mailing list for her? My relatives and I have traced our lineage back to a man named James Stanton who settled in Nova Scotia after the Revolutionary War. He was a Loyalist, having served in Hinchman's Company (according to the Muster Roll of Discharged and Disbanded Soldiers and Loyalists at Digby - May 29,1784). I am contacting you to see if he might link into the Stanton family from Stonington,Conn. We have been able to place his birthdate circa 1758 but do not know where that took place. While going thru your database, I noticed that it contained a James Stanton who was born on December 28,1756 but there wasn't any further information about him (that I could locate). Could this James be our missing link? His number in your database is 271 and he is 9th child of John and Prudence (Chesebro) Stanton. If this proves to be true, the on-going search by several people will be completed. But then a whole new search will begin. By the way, our James was married when he arrived in Nova Scotia to a woman named Sarah. We don't know what her maiden name was, only that she died on April 27,1798. Hopefully you can help with our search. Thank you ahead of time for your help and I hope to hear back from you in the near future. May Health and Happiness follow you. I am researching the Stanton family of Williamson County, Texas. Are there any researchers out there that have any STANTON connections in that part of our country? Cindy Shriver
Without source, I have Thomas Stanton as born 7/30/1616 at Towcester, Northamptonshire - which would make him a different Stanton than the Wolverjhampton ones. Hi List This is the first time there has been anything on here, I didn't think it was up and running. Does anyone have any connection to Stantons from Cambridgeshire in England, I have records going back to 1532 when Edward Stanton married Maude Taylor. My line migrated out to Tasmania, Australia in the 1850's but I have a lot of info on other lines. Regards Jennie Chapman Australia tapcat@email.tc
Nope. I have an Orin B. Stanton, b. 1829, m. Sarah Maria Sabin Oct 6, 1851 in Oneida, NY. Sarah Maria is the niece of my Sylvanus Sabin who married Marcy/Mercy Stanton, but I can't find any connection to this Orin Stanton...and it doesn't sound like he's connected to yours.
