    3. Hi, Thanks for replying, sad about your sister. I'm mainly throwing my information out hoping to find some family connections as well as check the accuracy of information I see on the web about early ancestors. My father was an only child, and is now deceased so I can't ask him any questions but he may not have had many answers anyway. He didn't talk about his family much so my mother who is living can't help either. His parents divorced when he was about five years old. My maiden name is SMITH, my STANDISH family is via my grandmother's mother. I've found a bit of information on the web re my family that goes back to Myles STANDISH but much of it doesn't seem sourced and some of the dates are really weird - as though one person merely copied another's error and it multiplied. Much of the confusion seems to be via the wives - mother's birth date the same as a child's birth date or a child born before the mother was of childbearing age or a mother's death before a child's birth, etc. Is there a site for Standish research that is current and reasonably accurate? I've plugged information into my tree on Ancestry mainly in hope to find more information or connections but I'd hate to think I was adding to the confusion by creating more erroneous information. My grandmother's list of her family was mainly compiled of the male family members: Myles STANDISH - Alexander STANDISH - Ebenezer STANDISH - Moses STANDISH - Moses STANDISH - William Hammett STANDISH - William Albert STANDISH - Albert STANDISH - George Edmund STANDISH. George E. was my grandmother's uncle. This branch of the family came to Ohio from Rhode Island and many lived in or around Columbus, Oh. Albert STANDISH was married to Sarah Dorcus MOSES her family came to OH from CT. They had three children - George E., Minnie Estelle (my g- grandmother) and Carrie Elizabeth STANDISH (married name POTTS). I'm on Ancestry and have been able to source my information fairly well through William Hammett STANDISH, although he apparently had three wives and children by two so that had me fairly perplexed for a while. Minnie E STANDISH married James THOMPSON (have not been able to locate any information about him other than his name on birth or death records for the children and a possible listing for marriage in 1892). I find no evidence that my grandmother ever knew her father - when I was born she told my mother that he was of Irish and Spanish descent and that was written in my baby book. There was no other information other than his name which was written as George Thompson. I don't know if that is the name my grandmother actually gave my mother or if my mother got confused with George Edmund and just wrote George. They had two children, my grandmother, Hazel Louise THOMPSON, and a sister who died young, Gladys Standish THOMPSON. Minnie later married Abner E RIDDLE. They had the following children - twins Edmund E RIDDLE and Edward D RIDDLE, Miriam RIDDLE (married name KESSLER) and Standish C RIDDLE. My grandmother and her half-sister appear to have stayed in touch because I have photo's of Miriam that were with my grandmother's things when she died. I've not found any children for George Edmund STANDISH he was married for a while to, I believe, Ida FUHR.
