GSMD "Mayflower families Through Five Generations, Volume Fourteen, Family of Myles Standish" states on page 3: "NOTE: No proof has been found to support the tradition in WETHERSFIELD CT BY STILES 2:658 that Thomas Standish of Wethersfield CT was a son of Myles Standish. He is not mentioned in the will." (Mr.) Stacy B. C. Has the Mayflower Society ever accepted the children of Myles Standish's first wife Rose? In the "Belden Family Ancestry & Genealogy From the year 1066 to the Present" it states "John Belden, son of Richard, married Lydia Standish April 24, 1656. It might be interesting to note that Lydia was the granddaughter of Capt. Myles Standish." I have seen it stated that Lydia was the daughter of Thomas Standish (born 1610/12 in England and died 5 Dec 1693 in Weathersfield, CT) and wife Susannah but Thomas is not listed as a son of Myles (mainly, I am told, because he was not included in the Myles Standish will) though he was his son by his first wife Rose who died soon after the arrival of the Mayflower. Does anyone know, has the Mayflower Society ever accepted Thomas as being a son of Myles?? Thanks for any input.
