    3. Hello fellow listers, I have recently subscribed and am writing because I have hit a brick wall concerning my GGGrandmother Mary STALLARD. Mary as far as I can tell was born 1853ish. She was married to a William DERRICK in Monmouthshire (1875) but according to the 1881 census was born in Compton Martin Somerset. I have trawled the BMD index several times but have only found a Mary Stallard born Bedminster and not Clutton (the registration district for Compton Martin) . I have managed to get access to the 1851 census for Somerset and located a family of Stallards in Compton Martin headed by a William STALLARD (her fathers name on her marriage certificate) and his wife Martha, but Mary would not have been born at this time. I need to get access to the 1861 census to see if this couple had a daughter around 1853. I made a trip to my nearest fhs library yesterday ( I live in the sticks) but they did not have this census available. Hence my plea! Is there anyone out there who could help as it is not possible for me to get down to Somerset at the moment. Could you also advise me as to where these records are available to the public? I dearly hope that someone out there can find time to help a very frustrated fellow genealogist. Many thanks Jayne W.

    3. Dear Subscibers, I am very new to this genealogy business and am trying to trace my Stallard ancestors. At the moment the only information I have is from the 1881 census which places my GGGrandmother Mary STALLARD in Newport Monmouthshire married to a William Derrick. Her given age is 28 and her place of birth Compton Martin in Somerset. I cannot find her birth registered between the years 1845 -55 and am wondering if anyone has any info which might help? I believe her father to be either a George or William Stallard. As I say all help will be greatly appreciated, Jayne Williams.

The Nymagee Stallards come from Edward Boxall Stallard b Nelson NZ 11 Mar 1850, who descends from William Stallard b 1816, Chichester, Sussex, who comes from William Stallard b 1781, Catherington, Hants. The wives, in order, were Mary Jane Elizabeth Rabjohns, Harriet Cook, and Sarah Boxall. There IS NO MORE COPIES, there has been talk at several Stallard Reunion in Coeburn, Virginia about doing an update of the first book but nothing has been done about it. If any one sends or wants to send me there updated information I will past it on to Ms. Gladys Stallard who lives in Norton, Virginia, she keeps up with all the information in the book, she does not have the internet.     3. Hi guys, It appears that a second Stallard book is not in the works unless someone volunteers. The author of the first book *may* make corrections to the first book. Lewis Atkins, a Stallard descendant, has been wonderful about trying to work through any confusions, however he is disabled and has other interests as well. He is happy to help anyone who needs it, as long as they can be patient. He is a descendant in the vicinity of Wise Co. and other SE VA areas. The largest Stallard family in the US is by far the Family from Virginia who I believe came to the US in the early 1700's. Seems like every Stallard I meet are from the Virginia family. LOL.
