    1. Re: Carl Stallard? almost married Linda Lou Branham Hall??
    2. Hi I don't know if this wil help you but, in the 70's my father was in Virginia stationed in New Port News He had a friend named Carl Stallard who was born and raised in Virginia, he was in the army with my father, My mother said that she remembers Carl Being engaged to a girl for a brief while but they never married. My mother hasn't spoken to him in years but she said that the girl he was engaged to was very sweet and a quiet woman, they were like night and day. She said that he would most likely be in Virginia or West Virginia. I can ask her what the womans name was to verify if this is your mother. I suggest you look in the directories for Va and Wva. When I find out more I will let you know. I hoped it helped

    3. Hello Ann, Phyllis, Linda, Bob, Cath and Alun, Thank you all for your emails. At least we know that there are six of you out there on the list researching the name and with me it makes seven! I started my STALLARD research 30 years ago and have my family back to the 1500s in Wrington, Somerset. Some of you are in the United States and I think descended from Walter who went to Virginia from Worcestershire and Herefordshire, England. I have had one or two queries in the past about this line but have not been able to link it with my own. An Arthur Stallard wrote a pamphlet on the Stallard Family History printed in 1912 which is interesting to read. He has information on all the Stallards he found in England. They were in many counties all over England. If any of you are interested, it is on microfilm at the Latterday Saints Library. I have a reference: P.B.A.929.2 #1606. Some of you may have already read it. I believe the author was killed in World War I so there was never a follow-up. Thanks again to you all. Kind regards Pat (nee Stallard)

    2. Ester Eads
    3. Hi Pat, Ann, Phyllis, Linda, Bob, Cath & Alun, I'm Ester and I also am a Stallard researcher. I was married to a Houser whose mother was a Stallard. We are related to the Stallards from Virginia and the women who published "The Stallard Connection" a few years ago. Actually, this is my children's connection. From that book we go back to Samuel Stallard & Jael Duncan through James W. Stallard who married Sarah McClure. James W. was born 1782 in Scott County, Va. & d. in Rush County, Indiana. James & Sarah's son - Jacob McClure Stallard - married Maria Beswick and was born in 1813 in Lincoln Co., Tn. He died in Lafayette, Indiana. Their son, William Asbury Stallard married Mary E. Stratton. Wm. was born in Indiana and died in Osawatomie, Kansas. Their son, Stephen McClure Stallard is the great grandfather of my children. He was really something. He was a lawyer in Oklahoma City (defense) and just couldn't continue representing people he knew were guilty, so he became a Methodist minister. He moved his family (wife, Zula Hisky & chn., Robert Dale, Maxine Ruth and Stephen) to a farm in Arkansas during the depression and lived the rest of his life here. Mary E. Stratton has a connection to "Tom Thumb" I have heard, but have made no documentation on. I have the "Stallard Connection Book" and will be happy to look up things in it for anyone who wants me to. As this is not my direct line, I've been rather negligent rounding out the whole family, but I do want to finish it so my grandsons will have pride in this heritage! Ester

    3. Hi Mary Alice, I began entering Stallard information from the Stallard Family book into my Family Tree Maker but stopped before I got way back. Anyway, I will only show the direct line but not any siblings, spouses or children. I went to the 200th Stallard Family reunion in Coeburn, VA in 1979 with my dad and his older brother Harold. Stallard's originally settled in Culpepper VA in about 1644 from what I can find. There is a group of Stallard's in PA that hold a reunion on the last weekend in July. The VA branch holds theirs on the first weekend in August. Samuel Stallard born July 16 1807 Lincoln county, TN. Died in Thayer, KS in 1888. His son, William, born March 12, 1832 in Anderson Township, Rush country, IL. Died 1878, place unknown. His son, James Edgar, born Jan 19, 1852 in Plymouth, Marshall county, IN. 3. Hi Pat and Ann, This is Linda in Arizona. Born and raised in Montana but father was born in Skedee, Oklahoma in 1913. Has since passed away but we have information from the Stallard Family Book which was published in the 70's by a group of ladies in Virginia. So, how can we get this thing going? I have several addresses that have lain dormant for awhile. Shall I stir the pot and see if they are still on-line and will join us? Linda

Posted on: STALLARD Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/surnames/s/t/STALLARD/queries/8 Surname: Stallard ------------------------- Hello Linda, Thank you so much for your reply, and your kind offer to do some further checking on my behalf. I tried the http://www.cs.bris.ac.uk/~paul/stallard.html, but there was no such link. I think that the tilde (~) must denote some part that has been shortened. I have tried starting with just www.cs.bris.ac.uk, but this gets me to the University site, and I have found no way of isolating the 'paul' in question. Have you any more information on this link, please? I will, of course, be continuing this search myself, but it is good to know that someone else is willing to try and help me. Thank you, Allan.
